There's a chunk of snow hanging off my roof - it spans more than half the width of my deck and hangs down over 2 feet. It's going to make one heck of a thump when it falls. Snow piled to the doorknob on my back door. Welcome to Sasquatch country today;

Another view of the sheet of frozen snow hanging off the roof.

It's breathtaking... as long as you don't have to be OUT there.
(and my camera sucks - must get new one)

I made the mistake last year of leaving my minivan parked in front of my house, directly in front of my front door. Which happens to be conveniently located to the left of a peak in the main roof, which periodically lets loose with ice and snow that crashes onto my eaves and typically bounces off to land on the concrete area I usually park on during the summer.
Yup - HUGE piece came down on the minivan's roof. Left a nice dent. I was pissed at myself for having been too lazy to move the van.
Good luck with that. Oh, and let me know if you get a pic of Sasquatch - I haven't heard from my older brother in a long time now. ;-D

BTW, I'm still back-reading. ;-)
Donna... Serenity is the new word for cabin fever, right?
OE... heh, heh. What, rake? I need a snowblower up there.
Good... You don't have to shovel cold rain, though, right? *snorts*
dolores... I would miss the snow, too.... if it would LEAVE already.
But it's beautiful, so pure and natural. Just watch out when the thaw comes!
Of course, in the meantime, I broke my wrist in Austin, Texas because temperatures were going to go down to 16 or 17 Farenheit!
Damn cold, I'll never miss it!
Here in Western Washington we have, knock on wood, dodged the snow bullet this year.
Great pics.
We had a terrible, scary blizzard today and five people died in car accidents. I flew out to DC at 5pm, well, make that 6pm after they de-iced the plane twice. When I landed in DC about an hour ago, it was 45 degrees. Damn tropics, right? I put my scarf and my gloves in the deep recesses of my suitcase and won't remove them until I get home at midnight on Friday.
Funny, I came out here to get trained on "implementing health care reform at the state level". Not so much, now. So not only do they keep changing our meeting agenda, they've now asked all of us to do Hill visits tomorrow to try to get this thing back on the rails.
Uh oh. I think I just answered your PM in a comment. Sorry!
Anyway, stay in, brew some good java in the AM, make some soup for lunch, and sip on a glass of Red in the late afternoon. That's how you ride out a snow day/week/month/season. Right?
xo
Roger... Sasquatchewan, Canada. I'm here looking after Dad, wishing I could mail myself to California or Hawaii.
Waking... you're not kidding!! I can relate to agendas that keep changing. Okay, bad pun.
Femme forte... I do have another door, but the snow is up to the doorknob on it. I'll have to force it open and shovel. The blue hint is probably the snow, but I thought the pics are a little fuzzy. Maybe that's my fault, not the cameras. Must try the tripod next time. :)
