OS has a terrible way to deal with photos guaranteed to either present too-narrow images or unsharp images. Whatever size image you upload, OS automatically shrinks it to 240 pixels wide, about half the column width.
You can edit the html code that OS uses but that just expands the 240 pixels to 440 pixels and makes the pictures less sharp.
An infinitely better way to post pictures is to upload them to Flickr, a free hosting site, and then share them from there to your OS post.
This is a step by step
a) start a Flickr account and upload your pictures.
b) click on the picture thumbnail so it opens to be large picture, the only one on the page.
c) click on the 'share' dropdown.
d) 1) click on html
2) choose a size very close ot 440 in width
3) highlight the code in the box and copy it.
Then go to Open Salon and in the post edit box, click on html
A box entitled HTML Source Editor will open and then paste the code you copied from Flickr and click update.
Sometimes, the page will take you back to your post with no edits being done, even a blank screen. Do not panic, this is a glitch in their code. Just click save draft and preview and your text and picture(s) will appear.

It is beyond me why OS resizes pictures to be so narrow, the different in storage space is minuscule.
(It is sort of odd that Flickr puts the steps in an inverted order also but I guess there are mysteries in this world that mortals will never know.)

Since I love pictures, I like to see the originals and so I generally link to the full size ones.
