I am definitely a man, and I know that men aint supposed to have weaknesses. I mean like women have weakness for chocolate or shoes or strawberries. Mine is sticky Toffee Pudding with rich Butterscotch Sauce and a really good quality vanilla ice cream. It's to die for....LOL.

So let’s make the best in the world....

INGREDIENTS:

Soak 1lb chopped dried Dates in 1 pint of good quality hot coffee whilst you do everything else.

1 lb self raising flour

8oz of butter

4 eggs

1 cap, or 1 dessertspoon of vanilla essence

2 teaspoons BiCarb

2 teaspoons Baking powder

8oz soft brown sugar

002

METHOD:013

In a food mixer mix together the butter and sugar until you have a cream, then add the eggs and the flour. Then add the coffee and Dates, the baking powder and the Bi-Carb

006

Line a deepish baking tray with parchment paper and pour the mixture into the tray. Place into a hot oven 200c and bake for about 40 minutes until the cake has risen and a needle comes out clean after prodding it.

Now for the sauce, in a deep sauce pan melt half a pound of butter and 1 1/2 lb soft brown sugar or half and half soft brown sugar and Muscavado sugar, stir slowly until the sugar has completely melted, then add 400 ml double cream and a few drops of Vanilla essence stir well until it is well mixed together, pour this delightful sauce over your sticky toffee pudding with a big spoonful of the best vanilla Ice cream you can find.......MmmmMmmmmmm

As a Brit, you have a slightly different take on food. I'm glad for that because this sounds fantastic and is going into my files. I'm getting some good imagined flavors already starting to work on my palette from reading this. Thanks.
Thanks for that Walter, I swear to God that this is the best sticky toffee pud in the whole universe....But then I would say that eh...That's why the waist line is enlarged...LOL
Thanks myriad, hope you enjoyed.
I'm definitely a woman and a Brit, but must confess I prefer a good sticky toffee pudding over chocolate and strawberries any day. I'll think seriously about the shoes however.

Your recipe sounds divine but even reading it adds another few pounds. Definitely tempting though.
You could talk me into a plate of this.... really easily. You could even talk me into a second helping. =o)

This sounds just delicious!
I'm off to get dates, have the rest...can't wait to try this, just what this Sat. eve needed...
The sweet tooth has been in a rut : )
Do you think you could make this with margarine? Or would it be disgusting? I love sticky pudding but I had to stop eating milk products. Alas!
I just tried to order some of this, missing it from my days in England as a teen, online. Upshot was, by the time I paid the correct postage for it because it was "perishable," the postage would've cost about ten times more than the pudding itself! So boy, was I thrilled to see THIS today!
I'll stop in for tea and toffee pudding next time I'm in The Olde Country. I want the real thing straight from an Englishman's oven.
Linda: What the hell, we're only here once...
Shiral: Second helpings on the way.
Just Thinking: Please let me know how it went.
Cedar: Yes it can be made with Marj will tun out just the same, just not as rich.
Keka: Just take an hour out of your busy schedule and get the oven hot, treat yourself.
Gabby: You would be more than welcome next time you are in my part of the world....as will everyone else, thank you all for coming by my post.
I've been wanting to make this! Thanks, chef.
I've not done sticky pudding but make a date pudding that will make you weep. Dates make everything wonderful. :) Rated
looks like I'll be trying something new..... great blog.A little too enticing. Thank you.
Love sticky toffee pudding and this looks delicious and doable. Thank you.
Of the three you listed, only strawberries...
Your pudding looks delicious. Love dates and pudding. Would this be similar to a treacle pudding? Rated!
Saluté, as I read and enjoy coffee and my signature date-orange-almond loaf. I've made date pudding before, and cannot extoll the delights of it. I love eating my dates in any form - raw or cooked.
Excellent post and recipe. Merci beaucoup!
