Bio
Born in Chatham, Ontario, in the year of who-knows-when. Opened up my eyes in a big fat book-lined den. Have written far too many columns and book reviews, and currently slave away at my most recent novel (2 published: Better Than Life, NeWest Press; Mallory, Turnstone Press; several others in development). Don't write a novel. It will eat you, I promise. Your mind will never be completely focused on anything else. Why do so many people want to be writers? Go out and do something sensible.

"Not-my-baby" pictures

cccccccccccc

Today's post is called "the author cleans out her desk".

It's my blog, and I'll waste time if I want to!

Yesterday I spent most of the day putting together a children's book for one of the grandkids: all about sisters (I wanted to do this in April, wrote the text, hated it, forgot about it, rediscovered it, tuned it up, printed it out, then set out trying to find photos, a mix of Google images and real family photos).

Actually, this took several days, and I was limp as a dishrag, my brain like a blown fuse, but set it aside? Not I!

I one day discovered I had saved about a billion photos which I never looked at, so I deleted them all. This went along with a general purge of all my overloaded files. Now I'm discovering I lost some favorite images,  but some few remain, and I'd like to share them with you now (or not, if you don't like sentiment/whimsy).

dddddddddd

Baby as space alien? Or running from the CIA.

Just good to look at, evoking. . . what?

ssssss

Not so far off the truth. The little tykes scare (and humble) me.

sssssss

You know those awful paintings of waifs with a single tear? Yet, what is it about this one?

vvvvvvvvvvv

This one looks so much like Erica, it scares me.

sssssssssss

Two of the grandcats, not actual photos, but capturing their personalities, one naughty (took a chunk out of my hand the one time I tried to pet him), one nice (and fat).

fffffffffff

These look exactly like the stairs at my son's house.

Was my back ever this cute?

ccccccccc

Under the sea! (How I wish she'd been around when I was four.)

AND. . . the number one sentimental picture for June 11 IS. . .

cccccccccccccccc

Little blonde angel girls in gauzy dresses, crowned with flowers. . .

Well, it is June.

Oh I just love these! My favorite, however, has to be the one of the young girl fishing with that spectacular mirror image of the landscape on the water! Beautiful! Is that one of yours? Is it photoshopped, do you think?
My next fav is the baby alien! That is some mug! I just want to kiss him/her!!!

Awwwwww. :~) That is all.
How did you ever manage to find that 42 year old picture of my baby daughter climing the stairs?
I'm glad I wasted time with you today. The flat out cat is a hoot. I have one that sleeps like that...weirdest looking thing. :)
It can be kind of fun to waste time, though the driven/Puritan/work-obsessed part of me screams and yells and says, "I'm only doing this 'til 2:00 o'clock!" It reminds me of childhood, when hours melted away in a kind of reverie. No doubt today, they'd have a disorder named after it.
these photos are lovely and the post is funny and sweet!
