WEEK 1 of my health and diet program.

Rate: 1 Flag

I don't feel like I had a really successful week. I lost of total of 1 pound. I guess it's better than going up or staying the same. It doesn't help that I come across contradictory information. I heard on a medical program that eating too much meat can cause your blood to become acidic. They said that the best diet of one that is mostly vegetables with only some meat. And the vegetables should be mostly the bright colorful kind. I think The Belly Fat Cure is a lot of meat, but I also read on the official "Belly Fat Cure" diet pages blog that Jorge is coming out with a new book that has changed the diet.

Also on ABC I am watching a show about weight loss where they are operating on peoples brain and inserting a charge into their brain that turns off the appetite.

The woman profiled had gastric bypass surgery and lost some weight, but is still having trouble.

I thought about Gastric Bypass, but I don't have insurance, so it isn't an option right now. I'd also like to get control of myself, by myself.

They are also talking about food as an addiction. I think I may have been addicted to carbs.  I want to eat healthy AND lose weight.

I have gone on a bike ride yesterday and today...I won't go tomorrow because I need a day off every two days to let my knees recover. So ride two days, off one etc. I always feel better for biking and I know if I can lose weight I will be able to ride more and maybe even walk without terrible knee pain.

Today I ate the following:

Breakfast: 1 large bowl of homeade chicken vegetable soup and two slices of homeade wheat bread with a teaspoon of butter.

Lunch: I had a cup of Rigatoni, made with hamburger, tomatos-no sugar added and a small salad with about two tablespoons of veggie ranch dressing.

Supper: I had a McDonald's fish sandwich  and a diet coke...nothing else.

It isn't that much sugar or calories. I think about 1500 claories and perhaps about 10 grams of sugar. Both ways I ate less than the amount allowed.

I don't know what will work, but I have to get some major weight lost before the schools start hiring again. I want a job desparately.

Good for you that you're making an effort. I would suggest eliminating McDonald's from your food choices though, nothing good can really come of that place. Eat more fresh green veggies, they are plentiful now. Try using some nice olive oil to dip your bread into if you must have something. And trash the ranch dressing. Use some wine vinegar and olive oil for your salad dressing. Jazz it up with mustard and fresh herbs.

Drink more water, get rid of all soda. Diet or not. Instead of a glass of orange juice in the morning, have an orange.

It seems there is a lot to be said for having many small meals over the course of the day, do more research.

Good luck! This is not easy but the rewards are great.
Thanks ablond. I don't usually drink soda anymore. I am caffeine free. That was a whole other battle. I paid for drinking one. I went to bed at ten and I don't know when I went to sleep. The caffeine kept me up. I know it is all about choices. You are right, I just need to make better ones. I will say I am much more aware of how much sugar is in EVERYTHING.
Keep going, Sage, and don't let the seeming lack of weight loss worry you too much. Most likely, you're putting on muscle mass as you're losing the fat. It'll start to show soon enough.
