I have an Open Salon blog because I wanted to comment on Adequate Parent's blog (which is highly entertaining and thoughful and I recommend anyone to read). Oh, but rather than simply use my name when creating an account I decided to come up with a nickname, a new online persona so that I might fullfill my desire to come across as clever and thoughtful. How exciting! I suppose I might feel a little silly, choosing to add my voice to the ever-increasing din that is the chorus of the internet. I tend to talk down to myself. "Oh, who would want to read what I have to say?" Well, actually, at least one or two people.
I've kept a couple of blogs over the years and, much to my surprise, a few people did, in fact, read them. Mostly friends, but when I had a Blogger account many years ago I had actual strangers weigh in on my thoughts. Oh my! At the time I became overwhelmed by anxiety and was lured to LiveJournal by people I knew, opting for a more intimate circle of readers. When I got my MySpace account I began blogging there so that my real life friends could see what was going on in my life, and I continued with it until I started dating my latest ex-boyfriend.
This probably isn't the most interesting post to anyone, but I don't care so much. After all, it's just me right now and I like a little bit of exposition. More importantly, I love writing. Not just telling stories and whatnot. I love the actual physical act of typing on my keyboard. To me it's musical, like playing the piano (which I also know how to do to an extent). In the future I'll have more to say. For now, I have to go do the dishes.
