Linc, A Serialized Novel, Part 163

Previously on Linc: Linc has heard voices since he was a kid, but they’re not what they seem. He can hear other people’s thoughts, but the ability has left him friendless and homeless. A mysterious corporation, Genetitech, tracks him down and offers to train him to use his skills. He soon learns that there are others with strange power like him, but can they be trusted?

Eva still hadnt reacted to his presence although it didnt seem possible that she hadnt noticed him. She was staring right at him as she swayed from side to side with a faraway look in her eyes.

What happened?

She must have been looking right through him, but it wasnt clear what, if anything she was actually looking at. If she had seen, her thoughts probably would have changed, but they continued on uninterrupted.

What happened?

Linc rubbed his face with his hand and came away with a palmful of sweat. He took two more steps and then paused. He was probably a quarter of the way up the hall now and it was already unbearable, he didnt know how he could make it all the way to Eva ad the bodies, but he would have to find a way. it was becoming so intense that his gait was returning to his former shambling shuffle. He braced his hand against the wall and let his head hang down.

Linc, are you okay? Moira asked from down the hall. He looked back over his shoulder and saw her head poking out around the corner.

What happened?

He was dismayed to see that she wasnt far away at all; he felt like he had been marching for miles in the desert sun, but in fact he had only walked about six feet.

            Son of a bitch, he croaked. He looked back around to Eva, whos thoughts pounded him over and over again.
