Previously on Linc: Linc has heard voices since he was a kid, but they’re not what they seem. He can hear other people’s thoughts, but the ability has left him friendless and homeless. A mysterious corporation, Genetitech, tracks him down and offers to train him to use his skills. He soon learns that there are others with strange power like him, and when Genetitech is raided he is forced to go onto the run with one of them.

"Shit, we both missed," Moira said, looking around a tree at the gunmen who were already racing up the dock.
"I didn't miss," Linc said, his pride hurt. For once he had pulled something off and he wasn't going to let Moira take that away, even if he had ultimately failed.
"If you hit him, how come it didn't work?" Moira asked.
"Maybe you have to arm the sticky shockers first," he suggested, but then remembered the stocker had still sparked against the gunman's body. Linc looked down at the vest he was wearing, it had a metallic sheen to it. "The vests. The vests must protect them against the shockers."
"Right, then we need to shoot them in their legs or their heads," Moira said.
Linc didn't like the idea of shooting them with the sticky shockers in their head, it seemed like it might fry their brains, or something. He would keep that thought to himself and just aim for their legs instead. Plus, their legs would make an easier target to hit. The gunmen curved around towards where they were hiding, a buzzing cloud surrounding them.
"We need to move, they're coming this way," Linc said.
He didn't have to tell Moira twice, before he could say anything else she had disappeared into the woods. Linc took off after her, doing his best to keep her in sight, but to not make too much noise. He looked back over his shoulder, but the trees screened the gunmen from their view. He didn't really need to see them to have a good idea that they weren't far, the buzzing for the disrupters was rapidly approaching. At a safe distance, they both hunkered down again behind a tree.
