In Ancient Egypt, the many gods were simply different manifestations of the universal consciousness, the One God: Ra, the Lord to the Limit. All the Gods were one; all were children of Ra. Whether God was Atum in Heliopolis, Ptah in Memphis, Thoth in Hermopolis or Amun-Ra in Thebes, the ancient Egyptians believed the gods were all one with one message of truth and justice.
Love and Magic
While Ra is still on earth, experiencing human emotions, He has a vision that if Nut (his daughter, the Sky Goddess) has children, one of them would end his reign. Ra utters a curse: “Nut shall never bear a child any day of the year.” Sad Nut goes to Thoth—the God of Knowledge and Magic and son of Ra—for Help. Even though Nut is in love with Gebb, the Earth God, Thoth loves Nut and he decides to help her. Yet, Thoth knows that the curse of Ra, once spoken, could never be recalled; Ra is infallible.
Thoth goes to Khensu, the Moon-God, and challenges him at senet (an ancestor of draughts). Thoth wins game after game until Khensu refuses to play anymore, having wagered and lost enough of his own light. Thoth wins enough light to add five new days, which are not days of any year, to the old year (360 days), for Nut. Since then, these five extra days were held as days of festival in ancient Egypt.
On the first of these days, Osiris, is born; the second day is set aside to be the birthday of Horus (of Osiris and Isis); the third day, Set, the Lord of Evil is born; Isis, the Queen of Heaven, goes forth on the fourth, followed by her kind and beautiful sister Nephthys on the fifth.
Since his match with Thoth, Khensu, the moon, has not enough light to shine throughout the month. Yet, Ra’s curse is never broken, for the days on which the children of Nut are born, belong to no year. The most admired of Nut’s children was Isis whose fame and worship as a female icon, crossed Europe and reached England.
The Goddess Isis, the Goddess of Magic, said,
I drew the paths for the stars
I know the depths of the seas
I separated the earth from the sky
I am the mistress of every land
I laid down laws for mankind
I was taught by the Truth
I overthrew tyrants
I made justice mighty; mightier than gold
I ordained that truth is beautiful
I am she who is called divine among women
I brought together woman and man
I made women accept the love of men
I resurrected my husband one last time
I made love to Osiris, the King
I gave birth to Horus, the Bull of His Mother, the Avenger of His Father.

I dedicate this post to the sharp Professor O’Really for teaching me and making me laugh, and to the honorable cartouche for helping me feel. Happy Birthday, Patricia, you are a beautiful friend, a kind soul and a wonderful writer. You are an asset anywhere. Patricia’s Birthday is 02/09.
The following video (two minutes) contains a powerful poem written by 14-yr-old Patricia in English, and a finale of a few lines from a song (title in video) in French. In the spirit of “coming out,” the sound track is my voice.
no longer are forgotten
my hopes, desires and destiny,
by thee
has been verboten
I shan’t regret the tears thou’ll shed
(hast thou shared pity in mine?)
Nay I say,
thou ne’er understood
Thy tangled thread, thy twine
Hath thee the mind to comprehend
the stolen dream, the pain?
Or doth I play my symphony
in silence, wrath and vain?
My judgment day has long since passed
and still, thee runs thou quest
to rule from thy vine, till the end of time
with this, thou is obsessed
My roots, I know (and so doth thee)
were planted in thy womb,
and bloomed in thine house
but remember still,
lie naked in my tomb.

Happy b'day, Patricia, O'Really? and cartouche! Our OS world seemeth to grow smaller by the day.
And, Thoth, it'th truly a damned good thing you're not from Theebth. Goodneth! (R)
Ironically, having been to Egypt, Ancient Egyptian spiritual/religious beliefs make a hell of a lot more sense to me than modern Christian beliefs
Patricia is she your niece a student perhaps please elaborate. This is perhaps the most beautiful poem written from the feminine aspect that I have ever read. I am not surprised that she is 14 as Fredrick Nietzsche said poetry is Dionysian, a short burst of concentrated energy that lends itself to youth, as opposed to the writing of essays and novels which is Apollonian and requires the discipline that comes with age of a controlled release of the energy. She is a prodigy, the Gods are speaking through her and she needs to be protected from the sewerage that now pass's for culture. Encourage her to write as much as she can while she can demons scurry to conceal the treasure and they will surely be upon her like the hell hounds that they are. I am saving her poem for future reference if you don't mind. If she writes anything else please print it on Open Salon!
You don't post much here, dude, but when you do, it's definitely worth the wait!
Thoth you do not sound a thing like I thought you would.

Lovely post, Thoth, and I learned something about Egyptian mythology. Thanks!
Thoth, that is a voice to turn any woman into putty in your hands. :)
You were very kind to make this tribute to her. And I am absolutely over the moon for that voice. Thanks for sharing.
Thoth, you've done a wonderful job here with this tribute. And the French - like a native! What a talented poet the 14yr old cartouche was - I'd love to read some of her more recent stuff.

Mon ami, dans l'obscurité là est léger, dans la lumière là est beauté. Magnificant !
Happy Birthday Patricia!
Thank you, Thoth, I understand so much better now about your name. I used to greet the sun by saying, "Hail, thou are Ra!" which came from "The Book of Thoth" by Crowley and was never fully explained the way you just did it. Thank you.
