Not very orderly looking, I admit. Biodiversity isn’t always neat and orderly – especially if you’re into companion planting, which I definitely am. Flowers. Arugula. Collard greens. More flowers.

My seed. I learned to be a mother from my mother who learned from her mother who learned from her mother who learned…

Blackberry plants. Eventually, I’m going to have to buy a trellis but for right now I'm just happy to see them growing.

I really should label what I plant so when it grows, as this tall yellow flower has, I know what on earth it is!

Even though I don’t label what I grow and am not yet knowledgeable enough to identify plants/flowers on sight, I know what I grow is edible.

I believe these are baby collard greens as they take a very long time to cook and they mimic the general shape. And yes, I did plant collards.

cyril, if you can take my "i'm winging it" cooking, you're more than welcome.

rita, exactly. every spring when i see her flowering, i "fall in love" all over again.
Tichaona, try some lemon grass in there too if you haven't yet... great for tea (w/wo a drop of Angostura bitters, medicinal) or seasoning etc. . Looks like a healthy garden!
inverted, i have thought of lemongrass because i love the smell. i'm unsure if it will grow in the boston area but i'm willing to give it a try!
