Three news items from today we should all read

I'm supposed to be explaining my remark that my girlfriend is a "european" catholic.  That one will have to wait until we get in the desert tomorrow.  It is pure ignorant theorizing anyway, so I can get it out at the motel breakfast table.

1.)    David Sirota of Salon is mad, or happy, rather, to see that everyone is getting a full frontal of that which has made him mad for so long.  Newsflash:  rich people tend to be conservative and selfish.  I, having lived on this same planet for more than five minutes, agree.  But personally, rather than add taxes to anyone, I think we should pay for health care by not allowing those that profit perversely (such as insurance companies and health care providers [yes, doctors]) take so much home, and by examining who pays for expensive treatments that give you a few more miserable weeks at the end.  The concept is the same though: people who are in the gravy now will not be convinced that they have too much and that they, no matter what they want to call it, are simply unwilling to give anything up for what civilized nations call a basic right of citizenship.  But look at who these people (the ones that make the news, not Sirota's wealthy protest letter writer) really are:

2.)    (From SE Michigan, where I was recently living and still own a house I can't sell)  The town hall disrupters aren't these top three-percenters, are they?  Of course not.  The screamers, who may or may not be part of a coordinated effort in the normal bullying style of shillers for the Republican party, appear to be people who (Taylor, Michigan here folks!) might be losing their autoworker health coverage right about now.  IOW not in the gravy.  Which leads to my beef:

3.)     People are too stupid to have a democracy.  I haven't yet read the book referenced in this guest editorialfrom my local paper, but don't we all live the reviewer's grief every single

painful day? Right now you are being told that the president of the United States wants to kill your grandparents.

That a huge number of us can't go to the doctor when we are sick in this country is inexcusable.  It is disgusting.
