Reasoned, Relevant And Often Contrarian Commentary On Economics

October 24
I'm an electrical engineer and mathematician by training. My career has spanned diverse areas of expertise from being part of a team which designed the world's most powerful computers to corporate consulting around business transformation and information-based solutions to being a corporate sales and marketing executive in the information technology and business consulting space. I’ve led teams responsible for innovative and transformative solutions and been part of teams that helped set strategy for many of America's greatest companies. Two of my interests are econometrics, democratic finance and quantitative - qualitative analysis. Over the years I have developed risk-based models and trading systems meant to identify significant investment opportunities and periods of extreme risk. My blog is an outlet for another of my passions, writing. I generally consider myself a contrarian. Therefore, many of my rantings are meant to encourage people to question what they believe to be true. Terms of Use & Disclaimer: First off, I don't take anything on here too seriously and you shouldn't either. These are simply sardonic rantings of Bill, my alter ego, often meant to agitate for peaceful & nonviolent reform. This web site reflects the views of its authors. A Complicit Congress States CIA May Have Misled “Zero Dark

Rate: 6 Flag

Thirty” Filmmakers On Illegal Torture

The political trolls from both parties are joining forces for what could be rather dubious reasons. This could easily be something much different than the headlines. It could be that lawmakers are trying to ensure their involvement in illegal torture is kept secret. ie, Cover your ass. Because at some point, if things turn badly against either or both political parties or their countless secrets used to mislead democracy and possibly even perpetuate countless crimes, they could be prosecuted for crimes against humanity in a public tribunal. Or they could have warrants issued for their arrest by the International Criminal Court in The Hague or courts elsewhere. Don’t laugh this off. Why else do politicians care to make the headlines as it pertains to the release of a movie? Crimes against humanity don’t “expire”. The Nazis did what they wished by subverting the law for nearly two decades until they were prosecuted by an international tribunal.

Of course, there is the possibility that the CIA, what I believe evidence clearly shows is a criminal, anti-democratic enterprise, manipulated Hollywood. That would be no surprise. We know that has clearly happened time and time again.

I linked to the Washington Post for this story for one reason. Look at the section where this story is printed; Entertainment. That’s rich. I’m not sure who believes the topic of illegal torture and crimes against humanity are entertainment but that’s par for the course in the dystopian mainstream media. ie, The relevant story isn’t the act of illegal torture itself but the political concerns of its characterization in an entertainment venue. A Brave New World indeed.

The problem with torture TL is the people that advocate it have never been tortured themselves. But you know what they say "what go's around comes around."
I'm not laughing because nothing about this is funny. And I don't doubt it either.
None of this surprises me a bit - it just saddens me immensely. Particularly because this movie will pretty much determine how most Americans look back on these events forever more. When you pit Hollywood against the Washington Post, let alone Open Salon, it's not hard to predict the winner.
Looks like they did something to the site. Speed today is the best in a year. Let's see how long it lasts. What goes around does come around. Karma is simply Newton's third law applied to behavior.
Most of what most people believe is fed to them in our passive-authoritarian consumption-driven culture. Why expect this film to stray from the algorithm?
[r] If only the real herd of enablers of torture would be brought to justice at some point in our future. Instead they seem to be more and more empowered in this merciless and amoral world. Not even the direct perpetrators are being brought to justice.

Obama's direct link to Manning's torture is one.

Great to see you on the cover TL. I am traveling out west right now visiting family. Not much time to check in here. Glad I caught this. Am about to see the torture movie and hopefully do my own review.

best, libby
