[There is no other... MOM! I lost mine too early, but have come to realize that she is always with me, even when I wish she wasn't. So for all out there... cause who do they scream for... we all have a mom.]
A substitute no
just won't do
a substitute fills in
the who
but what about the
when you do
or where it hurts
no other will
kiss or change
or even burp.
A lesson learned
from just a dad
is lacking most
and sometimes bad
for heart is what
your mother adds
and tender touch
when
badness has
trumped up the
situation of...
what if
how come
or why
Because...
A substitute will
just not care
no part time
sitter
or au pair
The lesson here
is simply this
remember who
was your
first kiss.
And don't forget
the what
she's done
for she is yours
your only one!
Where Sunday ends
all other days
your mother
she has
her special ways.

Hope you enjoy your day.
I lost my mother in early life, and I guess I have not overcome the loss, ever. She died 1-1/2 yrs after my father.
The only consolation I have had was that she followed him.
Your poem is very much to the point:
Mother is mother.
No substitute will do.
Thank you for sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings.

Thank you for the mother's day wishes as I happen to be a mother, too.
I feel comforted by your words.
