To Die For

Rate: 7 Flag

Warning: This piece is graphic and may not be suitable for little ones and little minds. There is a side of nature that slaps one smack in the face. Sometimes the shock is connected and sometimes the connection is shocking, never the less, this is life, horrible as it can be. Real.

Don't get me wrong, to question it is part of living it. There comes a first time, sad as it is, that shakes us into questioning. Exploring beyond our comfort is what makes us stronger. It's what makes us unique.

Is it natural? Was it necessary? Did something or some creature snap like the twig from which the nest hung?

Here then is To die For.

Baby T

I stumbled upon a murder gruesome

poor pink new

and dead squirrel twosome.

It looked as if they had been bitten

                                                      thru some.

No other symptoms did I see

was it nature's cruel hand

                                             or  jealousy.

 A territorial death this tandem

                          boundary dispute

                          loathsome

                  and random

Too late the season

Inbred the reason

So horrible this

in their soft pink flesh

Baby S

So new

this murder must have been

when crashing down

to the end

Squirrel lives innocently

inexplicably

may portend.

Saddened me deeply...portends the future?
Don't we all wonder why this violence with guns is happening?
Are we prepared to make better choices?
Gripping words and images. So, so much to ponder here. I admire your perspective so deeply. Rated with admiration.
Yes MCS it was. Motivated me to turn off the TV and write this.
Oh Michelle. The instant I saw their cold pink flesh it stirred me. Thanks for understanding. Life is so precious and fleeting.
Gruesome it may be
But reflects reality.

A poignant message
Delivered craftily.

Very disturbing, tg. I applaud your posting this and giving us a visceral sense of pain and unnecessary cruelty.
This poem brings to mind the terrible tragedy we have in our nation with the insanity of some of our citizens with their cherished weapons, and the pain their unreasonable use bring to so many.
[r] violence toward the innocent even in nature. thanks tg. the territorial imperative run amok. look at this nation and its imperialism embracing evil. best, libby
The line between life and death is very thin.
Some life that has started to be, within an instant goes back/or forth to eternity.
It hurts,yes,deeply.
