There is your truth ... there is my truth ... and there is everything between. That leads to the better question: Is there an Everlasting Truth? I submit there is only the Everlasting Quest for the truth. __________________________________ I believe that in essence We are God. That is to say, humankind, for all it's faults, has power over Good and Evil. As the Eden Tale intimates, humans alone, in all Creation, have "eaten" from the the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil; and thus humans alone, in all Creation, have the ability and responsibility to choose between the two. Thus, each of us is in essence a god, and the Sum of us, through all generations past, present and future is God. By those choices, we are the creators of what was, what is and what will be. And by those choices, we, collectively, choose whether to exist here and now in the Kingdom of Heaven or in a Living Hell. _________________________________ "I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and incur my own abhorrence." This lukewarm temper arises partly from the incredulity of mankind, who will never admit the merit of anything new, until they have seen it proven by the event.” Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince, Chapter VI _________________________________ "if a man falls from a pedestal, who is really to blame -- the man or those who put him up there?" Where's Tom?

Rate: 25 Flag

Dear Friends, Admirers and Detractors,

TLCIf any of you are looking for me, I'm in Cognito. That is, I’m imprisoned in my room preparing for my upcoming concert Saturday, August 6th, at the Dogwood Center in Fremont, Michigan.

I’ll also be showing my film The Seventh Day on Sunday, August 7th, with a Q & A to follow.

Here's a link to their website promoting both shows:

Dogwood Center

This will be my fourth appearance at that venue, and I must say, it’s a delightfully intimate concert environment.

If any of you are in the area around that time, I‘d love to meet you and share a brew or two and some conversation. Please send me a PM, and we can exchange vitals.

Thanks for listening,

Well it sure as heck was a question I was asking!
Nice to know I was missed -- I expect to see you there. Take the Milwaukee Clipper and I'll meet you in Muskegon.
Been wondering about ya Tom. Wish to heck I could make it to Michigan to see you perform (would be a first time for me, Michigan AND meeting you. I have a feeling your music would be right up my alley).
I have been wondering as well. I'm glad it's something so nice that has kept you away from us.
Wish I could be there. If I did show up, what kind of vittles do we exchange?
Good to see you're still kickin'.
Wish I could make it. When are you coming out west?
Hey Tom.

Good luck on Hiroshima Day!
Good luck. Btw, is that you in the photo in this post? If it is you look like Neil Young. R
ok. i rarely stop at one damn beer though.
often i need three to get my head straight.
Certainly did wonder. This is a very good reason to have been away. Hope it's a great time for you.
you are a cool dude. congrats. Dr. Levine
Thanks, yeah, I’m pretty sure you’d dig my stuff. This year’s show is called Songs of Native Sons, it’s a tribute to the First Americans – the real Americans who were here before it was America.

Well, upon my return, I’d like to pay Nashville a visit. I want to corner Marty Stuart – he stole my act ;-).

Dad was a trucker, so I know all the best truck-stop diners.
As soon as you line me up a paying gig. Actually, my fiddle player is flying in from Seatlle – now that’s loyalty – or insanity.

Are you insinuating I might bomb? Sorry, I couldn’t resist

Foolish Monkey
Breaking a leg is okay – a hand? Out of the question
Yup, that’s me, and yes, that’s me in the picture. I’ve been told I have more than a passing resemblance to Neil. Forgive my immodesty, but I think I’ve aged slightly better than he has.

Forget the beer, we’ll drink single-malt scotch, it won’t take as long, and the hangover won’t be nearly as bad.

Thanks for your concern and kind wishes. I always have a good time up there, most of my family is still there, and it’s non-stop music for as long as they can stand me.
Lucky you. The closest I ever got Willie was a guitar pick with his name on it. If I was near Michigan, I'd be there for sure.
::embarrassed:: should be "to Willie"
The only thing I know about Michigan is its cold and that’s where Derick Jeter grew up, Kalamazoo, but best wish's on the concert and play some Zappa for me.
You know we are all expecting to see a video on YouTube in a post on Open Salon. Yeah.
I lived in Lansing for 9 years, first working as web designer for State of Michigan, and then as graduate student in cartography at Michigan State University. I got a job in North Carolina, and drove my family out of a blizzard in 2008 and we were on the beach a few days later. I am still thawing out from the cold in Georgia three years later.
Gosh, I do wish I could make this gig. These are my old stomping grounds. Used to pick up my kids for visitation in Grand Haven for years.

By the way, count me in the admirer category.
Booked for the cottage that period Tom, otherwise I'd be happy to hoist a brew or two with you. Break a leg.
Good luck to you Tom.
Awesome - have a great time!!
If only! And only if you'll buy me a Margarita (with a schnitzel of Grand Marnier! ) Mean guitar, I'm sure!
Have a great show, Tom!
Safe journeys : )

I've heard it called "woodshedding", when you go into seclusion to practice for a gig. Break a leg. Wait, with a concert and a film I guess you should probably break both legs.
That sounds like it will be a lot of wishes preparing! (& great photo!)
Bring that tour to Northern Illinois!
Yes, I consider myself one of the luckiest men alive. I even got my picture made with Willie on his bus.

Well, I was born and raised in Michigan, and I assure you, it’s not cold in August. I’m afraid Zappa won’t fit with my Indian motif.

I’d love to visit any of those cities again – and if you’re ever in East TN, drop in.

Sounds like your vagabond bone is as bad as mine. A video? Well, maybe one day

We belong to a mutual admiration society.

Well, if your plans change let me know

Well, cool as I can be, anyway

Thanks – I always do have a great time

If only backatcha. I’ll buy the Margarita’s if you’ll buy the scotch. By the way, I do a pretty fair version of Margaritaville – eat your heart out, Buffet.

Can it be the same leg as others here wish I broke?

Wow! Personalized spam!

Woodshedding is exactly right, and I’m in dire need. Not only do I have to write the show and pre-record some of the voices, I’ve got to remember how to play the guitar.

It is great fun, and ever once in a blue moon, the camera is kind to me

Be glad to – where and when’s the gig, and how much does it pay?
Ohhhhhhhh I'm going to have to see if I can make it to this one. *Grins* Won't know for a couple of weeks though the way my schedule is these days.
Your absence was noticed! Break a leg, as the man said. I hope to be able to see your film another time. Your talents, media, and accomplishments are more diversified than I ever realized.
Break a leg, or whatever the proper term is!
Mrs raptor
I look forward to meeting you – given the subject Songs of Native Sons, I’m sure it will be right up your alley

Thanks. Yes, I’m a walking, talking, singing advertisement for human diversity – my family is truly American – or as Mom used to say -- Heinz 57

With all these wishes for a broken leg, I’m beginning to feel like a cripple
Actually Tom... I think I am going to give a call to a few of the Tribal Elders around these parts and see if we can't put together a "caravan" or something. I know a whole lot of the local tribal members and the overwhelming response this morning has been "Oh I want to see/hear that"
Mrs Raptor
Wado -- now I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!
I still rock, but my star has grown quite dim
Hey you posted this on my birthday....Is there a song for me?
