Tom Sings Live on the Radio

Rate: 16 Flag

Attention:

At the insistence of several people here on OS who want to hear what me and my music sounds like, please be advised that the live radio show I did last night will be broadcast on streaming Internet radio this Saturday morning at 11:05 EST. If you can't make that time, it will be rebroadcast Monday evening at 5:05 EST.

Here's the link:

WRKQ

Once you're on the website, go to the Listen Live link on the page, and you'll be listening to Dave's Place, a sort of hillbilly version of Lake Woebegone. You'll hear some talk about herb -- no, not that kind -- horehound and sassafras, some downhome banter, and about eight of my songs, depending on how the show was edited.

Fair Warning: This was nekkid music, that is in the raw, with no overdubs, edits or accompaniment, and I have no idea how it's going to sound. So proceed at the risk of your ears and illusions -- and the risk of my already shaky reputation.

Thanks for listening,
Tom

Thanks, Tom! I'll be checking your music out tomorrow morning!
I can't miss this. Thanks for the head's up!
yay tom!!!

can't wait for monday. tomorrow I'll be out and about but MAYBE I can catch it on my leetle phone. oh that would be sweet if the battery holds.
Flagged as SPAM!

" a sort of hillbilly version of Lake Woebegone?"

Like that's not hillbilly enough? Alright.. deep breath here.. no hills in Minnesooota are there. Just LAKES, 10,000 or so, and HAMM'S the beer refreshing with the bear sponsor, and mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds with striped torsos that leave welts like silver dollars (camped there once with my bare ass somehow exposed).

OK sorry, just hate to admit I guess that I'm mostly of hillbilly origins and will of course TRY TO REMEMBER like smithie.
Gonna be hectic this weekend as the military kid is sneaking away from Fort Sam in San Antonio TEXUS to visit this weekend, SO, if I should miss tomorrow I hope I can make it Monday evening as I would actually truly love to listen, raw and nekkid or not.
@generalissmo, you kiss that boy for us.
Tomorrow's out for me but Monday should be possible. Thanks for the heads-up Tom.
Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be listening!
Thanks, tom. I'll catch one or the other. So excited to hear!!
I will be there listening, Tom. I am looking forward to it.
Darn! I will be away from my computer at 11....will try and catch the Monday evening rebroadcast. Break a leg! (not really)
Will see if my tech skills are up to the task.
I'm logged on and I hear the show now underway!

Welcome aboard!! Now you know what life is like in Tellico Plains, TN!
Tom, you're one talented dude--great singing and music!
I listened to the program. Great singing voice! I think I may visit your website and pick up some CDs. I love the older country music, the kind you sing. Excellent stuff, man. I loved that Guitar in Heaven song, too. It was awesome!!!!

My step father and father in law both love this kind of music. I shall pick up some of your CDs and buy them for them, as well as for myself.

Thanks for the head's up.
My own ineptitude kept me from making the connection so I'll practice and give it a shot on Monday. Sorry I missed the tunes but at least you've got the perfect look for radio.
Designator
Thanks, I appreciate you tuning in, and with a little luck, we'll do it again in three weeks
To All:
Thanks for listening, and if you can find time to send an email WKRQ telling them just how far this show reached, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Rw005
Thanks for the kind words. CD's and books are available directly from me, and I be happy to sign and dedicate them any way you wish.

Sorry you had trouble connecting. Yes, I have a face that was made for radio. I was also wearing one of my favorite T-Shirts that reads:

No Money
No Car
No Job
I'm in a band
Darnit, Tom. I missed the whole thing. I tuned in dutifully at 11:00 and waited and waited and waited. Finally it dawned on me I'd totally forgotten.... I'm not on the East Coast anymore. Thank goodness I get another chance tomorrow.
Tom, I forgot to mention how interesting the stories were about how you came to write each song. The show itself was fun to listen to and, unfortunately, the station broke for the news at 12 sharp so I never heard the last song.
Fay
Sorry, you missed it. It was a slice of mountain Americana. Hopefully you'll catch it on the rerun.
Designator
Yeah, I figured that last song might be cut, since he was running out of time. I thot he might also edit the show to fit the time slot, but what you heard was like I said nekkid -- no edits, no second takes and no overdubs.
Sorry I missed it -- had to work. I'll try to catch it on Monday. Hillbilly Lake Woebegone, with nekkidness, sounds like just my cup of (sweetened iced) tea.
You were pretty cool. Reminded me of Gutherie. That's the old time style I like. Willie Nelson, too. You tell stories in a backwoods style. I love that. Its classic Americana.

You are the classic American, Tom Cordle. You play Guitar, sing classic songs, and refuse to bow down to authority. You rock.
Bellwether
Well, I don't know what sorta tea you're into, but I hafta order half and half here in the South. My music is sorta the same -- I'm too country for city, and too city for country -- I suppose a record company would try to market me as Americana.
Rw005
Thanks for the fine comparisons and the high praise. I dunno about the rockin', but I can still roll a little bit ;-).
Tried so many times to get it to play, but failed. Will try again, tomorrow. Will write them a letter and use my NJ address.

When You hit the big-time and the big bucks start rolling in, please don't forget Your yen-less friend in Japan.

Thanks for trying, hope you have better luck tomorrow. I've heard of penniless, but yeniless -- now that's really broke.
Will do. Under current exchange rates, a yen = 4/5 penny - used to be 2.8 pennies.
I'll do my best to be there!
I tried Tom, but the link just took me to regular programming on 1250. Can you YouTube something?
Though I didn't get the chance to listen in I'm hoping you'll archive so I can catch later. Looking forward to it. R!
Tom they didn't archive it? I see a lot of their shows are archived but I didn't see your name. Sorry I missed it.
