This quite possibly may be the shortest blog I will ever write. It is inspired by the latest entry made by L in the Southeast that rightfully won an EP and her reply to my comment. So, Lezlie, this one’s for you.
I have an obligation and a responsibility, as a citizen of this nation that I take very seriously. It is my obligation to cast my vote on election day. It is my responsibility to seriously consider all candidates and to chose the one I honestly believe will be the best leader and cast my vote for him. Not the party. The man.
I have always believed that this is an intensely private experience for each person. You must look deep into your own heart, examine your own feelings, and to some extent, go with your gut feelings after reading and listening to all serious sides. The thing is, Lezlie gave me pause when she replied to my comment and said that maybe she would not have been surprised if she knew before hand how some might feel.
So this once I will tell you, Lezlie, and all my other OS readers…I plan on casting my vote for Barak Obama. Having watched him closely during his time in office and having watched and listened to his opponent I have come to believe that Obama deserves another four years. I am conservative in most of my beliefs but I can not, in good conscience, bring myself to vote for Mitt Romney. He is not a man I can trust.
And that, my friends is as far as I will ever go in joining in the endless cacophony of name calling and vitriol that has come to mark all Presidential elections. I will cast my vote and I will come home and get on with my life.
