So this is what you get with sixty-four trips around the sun….not bad. I find, after all this time on the planet, that while I don’t have all I ever wanted, I have all I will ever need and what more can any man ask for.
I was lucky enough, those first trips around the sun, to be under the care of two people who loved me and devoted their lives to seeing that I had what I needed to not only live, but to grow into a well rounded adult.
Even though those first ten or twelve solo trips I made were not my finest, my parents had given me the foundation to rely upon so that I could recover from youthful folly and mistakes and for that I am eternally grateful to them.
Looking back now at the journey so far, I can see that I have so much to be thankful for in this life. Along the way, as I traveled around the sun, I managed to father five beautiful, smart and loving children and I am proud of each and every one of them. They are my legacy to the world and the best things I have ever accomplished. I have so many friends, many due to this medium which I have a love/hate relationship with and for each of them I am so very thankful.
Hands down though, these past twelve trips around the sun have been made a joy because of one person….my wonderful wife, Melinda. She is my rock, my lifeline during times of personal storms and she is the reason I get out of bed each morning with a smile.
So here I am….sixty-four revolutions into a trip of unknown length….and I am right where I was always meant to be. We have our small ranch, Almosta Ranch, were we raise our horses, rabbits, pigs, chickens and lots of dogs. Our days revolve around feeding and caring for all our four legged children and loving each other. Not a bad place to be after sixty-four years. We live, we love, we laugh and we cry. We are all good.
Now, if you will pardon me. It is time to get back in my imaginary rocket ship and continue the journey….onward for another trip around that old man Sun. I hope you all will come along with me.
