In 2006, my dear, beautiful sister died of misdiagnosis and insurance profiteering . . . plain, simple, and everlasting. My Huffington Post article, “Gayle’s Death: Lovelace Insurance Profit #1067678-00", inspired comple… Read full post »

At her fortieth birthday

No Democrats! No Chocolate!
Published September 30, 2009 at Huffington Post

RUIDOSO, NEW MEXICO. Last week, the local Oktoberfest organizer denied a booth to the local chapter of the Democratic Women. By his own admission, the director “hates everything the Democratic Party stands for” and/… Read full post »

RUIDOSO, NEW MEXICO. I write from a small mountain town in Lincoln County, New Mexico where not just for the sake of tourism we revere America’s most famously colorful good-natured juvenile delinquent, Billy the Kid, as our primary mas… Read full post »
Anti-Which America, Ms. Bachmann?
Days ago, when you expressed your concerns about our citizens, I began to wonder which “many” of us across America “hate” our country, Ms. Bachman. Your rhetoric suggests that to explore our failings and challenges is to hate America . . . that national self-exami/… Read full post »
Mavericans - Republicans in Recovery
Each time I hear the word, “MAVERICK,” I cringe. It evokes images of football, tactical missiles, 70s Ford sedans, little motherless unbranded calves, Tom Cruise as a smart-ass, old westerns, and oh, yes, McCain’s projected icon of choice, the lone gunslinger and that wind-b… Read full post »
Amen to Hatred?
A Higher Heroism for McCain
Mr. McCain, I’m an American. Pretty average, I’d say. I just watch you on the screen, and a sour little shame blows through my soul as my countrymen rally to your side. I watch you fuel the chant of hatred. I watch your half-hearted mew for them to cease, playing t… Read full post »
Crashing Myths
Mr. McFreezin' America
What permutation of superhero stares back from the

For the second debate in a row, Senator McCain suggests that the economic crisis may best be relieved with the institution of a… Read full post »
Peas in a Pod: Troopergate & Attorneygate

Palin & the Peter Principle
Sorry, they weren't kidding. Of all her Republican sister/leaders with “strong proven experience,” Sarah Palin alone inspired and encouraged the Republican convention badges which read, "Hottest Governor from the Coldest State." It’s perhaps the only claim she can live up to, but wi… Read full post »
