The “Liberal Media” has fallen for it!

 This week, more than ever, I have noticed a long list of left wing pundits stating that there are problems with this bill or that one because the Democrats don’t have the 60 (SIXTY) votes needed to get the bill passed in the Senate. 

 So, the Democrats need 60 votes but the Republicans need 51?  What the heck?

 If the media keeps repeating this 60 vote line and people are going to believe it.  It only takes 51 votes, or 50 plus the VP to break a tie (in fact until Senator Franken is seated I think 50 votes works), to get a bill passed.  It takes 60 votes to close debate on a bill and THAT is what is holding up the process of American recovery. 

 The republicans got their death gift tax lifted or lowered with only 51 votes!  Why didn’t the Democrats filibuster (or threaten to filibuster) this country crushing bill?  $250 BILLION dollars lost!  Lost because 10 Democrats felt that the rich deserve a break on the gifts they give.

 Harry Reid needs to borrow Ms. Pelosi’s brass balls and man up!  Make the Republicans prove they are against the process of recovery.  Let them have the TV time they so desire.  Let Mr Boehner cry about how the 61 small businesses affected by the estate tax restrictions are what is keeping this country from recovery and prosperity (I know he is a congressman but it’s a good visual isn’t it).  Let James Inhofe stand on the Senate floor and lie about the Military Budget for 36hrs straight.  Let Kay Bailey Hutchison show the people of Texas whether she is more interested in running for Governor or doing her job as Senator.  Harry Reid should realize that HE has the upper hand in this day of 24hr media starving for stories.  We don’t need to know what color Brittney’s undies are tonight but we do need to know why John Kyl can’t understand a MIT report on energy even after the Auther has gone out of his way to clarify this!

 Don’t buy into the Republican obstructionist propaganda!  Remind your Senator that it only takes 51 votes to win!  Make the losers pay for their loss!  Make them accountable to their views and their corporatist ways.  Make them say why they are against the American middle class!

 We can win if we just play the game!  Now get out there and kick some BUTT!!!!!

I think the 60-vote margin is to cut off debate. Otherwise the Republicans will fillabuster? I think that's it.

The democrats, in the person of Obama, need to announce that they have given the Republicans a fair opportunity to play nice and be bipartisan and that from now on they will be governing the country without them. Push the budget through on a reconciliation package--which precludes the 60 vote filibuster--and attach every blessed piece of your agenda to it by way of amendment. Start refusing to appropriate money for Red States until the Republicans stop holding up appointments. Play this game as rough as you can, because in a crisis the people will judge on the results, not the process. Well mannered failures will not be rewarded, nor rude, bumptious successes punished.
