The first comment I saw at OS this morning was (paraphrasing as the post is now down), "Neil, do you really think it's wise to state right here on your blog that you purchased illegal drugs sometime in your past?  Really??"

Next thing that caught my eye was… Read full post »
A text this morning from my girl... four words,

"Jack White Love Interruption."

My reply: "song?"

Her: "Gotta listen just heard it on the radio."

Me: "I love Jack White. Will look up."

Her: "Must be new if you haven't heard it." Read full post »

40 years as a Toyota fan... here's why

For some reason I could never figure, American car makers dropped the ball beginning in the early 70's. Quality and customer service went by the wayside. Planned obsolescence became their business model, and the savvy Japanese, in particular, Toyota, s

Lots of talk of sex and dating this last week at OS...

May be the upcoming Saint Valentine's 'holiday' (an interesting history I found) has something to do with that. Yes, may be. I imagine though, that the subject is on the minds of many the year 'round, and that this… Read full post »

From over my right shoulder, the waiter said "Hey big fella, you're about done with that plate, right. I mean, what do you have left there... a lemon wedge?"

For those who have followed the reports on my sons' Naval career activities, I submit this e-mail from him to me with his permission, after my own thoughts... of course.

Ah.. seems I have been singled out and cruelly targeted by the great google gods in the OS gizmo.

THESE ads keep appearing in the center of my blog. I've asked others here if they get the same ads and the answer is, simply NO.

Wondered if the female contributors… Read full post »

Does body heat escape the head at a disproportionate rate? Seems that may be true because I just buzzed my head clean and now can't stop shivering, even with the furnace cranking. Could be that my scrubby little house isn't insulated very well and this computer which sucks up more of… Read full post »

Why I hate being called a bitch.. too

Tina used to try to switch the gender roles around on me. She the manly asshole, me the bitch. Admittedly, she did a stellar job.

Her dad was a hard partying Sailor and Viet-Nam Vet with a bit of a mean streak, last of ten or eleven kids raised… Read full post »

" So on the crisis goes, in all likelihood, resulting in the Iranian regime making some serious misstep, which will result in a war at some point in 2012.

pissing on dead soldiers

This morning as I drove in the suddenly bitter KC weather to my dental appointment, I heard the "breaking news" of, apparently, a recently surfaced youtube vid showing uniformed US Marines, urinating on the corpses of dead Afghan soldiers... or at least I assumed soldiers.

Needless to say the dead… Read full post »

Global warming... who knows, who cares? Bring on the palm trees I say! It's nearly sixty farenheit, again- blue skys and light breezes. Even if the polar ice caps melt, well, we're at 900 plus feet above sea level. I will cry for New Orleans though.

Sydney Spies, Durango, Colorado; her proposed yearbook shot

The above linked ABC NEWS article via Yahoo news has currently, 28,220 comments. Essentially, Sydney wants to use THIS shot as her high school senior yearbook feature and the school is not having any part of it.

Several  issues of "Women's Health" magazine are scattered about her comfy suburban home. Being a manly guy, I can't help but to notice them, mainly due to the fact that each has a fit, attractive, sometimes scantily clad young lady gracing the cover.

Too, without exception, each one has f… Read full post »

breaking my blog cherry for 2012~

In three days it will have been three years since I published my first OS... thing. Please, do not go back and read it.  I haven't!

Just figured something out though. I have twenty pages of history here. Each page has, usually, twenty-five blogs.  Math? Hmmm, this might be my five-hun… Read full post »

"ELI, what the hell kind of cookies are these and where did you get them?"

I did actually know where they came from- gwammas', Christmas Eve when he visited. The brightly decorated sack had ridden in the console of the truck since then when he returned.

Today, after I… Read full post »

The son is visiting his mother, her mom who is Gwamma Bev, and his cousins and Uncle Eddie (whom all I dig), and step aunt from that side of what was once our family (she's awesome also), this afternoon-evening, Christmas eve. It's still his family, actually, isn't it.. I dig them… Read full post »

LOVE: fear of the word

I've decided that I may have been putting way too much thought into the word love; love of the relationship type that is. Parent-child or owner-pet is much more cut and dry.

I've beat the subject to death in my own mind. When is it love? Is there an invisible line you… Read full post »

For those who weren't aware please let me assure you I am a selfish person. That's right, I believe in the virtue of selfishness, and I am non-repentant. If I can't, or don't, take care of myself first, then what good am I to others?  Yes, it is ok to be "selfish."… Read full post »

In a conversation not long ago, we wondered aloud about...

.. something to do for a winter weekend getaway-..

..-(should weekend and getaway have dashes betwixt? Should betwixt itself be... be-twixt???)

A good place to go that doesn't involve outdoor butt-freezing activities, at least not ALL day, is… Read full post »

A few.. maybe very few of you, will remember MAD magazine's "scenes we'd like to see."

Today, one of those happened, for me, because I deserved it!

First, a link. Robin Sneed is being pommeled by Hommel... you saw it here first (except Ablonde who told me)- hurry before it's deleted!

My problem? I am breathing too well. That's not the whole problem, oh no. Just compounds things.. things! Too much going on. Too much oxygen!

creatures in my driftwood

I say my driftwood.

It's not mine, this stump long ago separated from some soggy shoreline way down upon the Suwanee river...

..maybe.

No, not mine, but this driftwood hunk has taken up residence here since I found it on the street on trash Thursday a couple months… Read full post »

Thanksgiving, already, once again. The older I get the faster time slips by! Now, soon, Christmas and bah humbug.. but I do believe I will participate in the big thanks thing this year, although I still think it's a bit ridiculous to set aside one day for gratitude.
