Really, we should close our comments to starve spammers?

Rate: 56 Flag

Just read a post by Matt Paust arguing for closing our posts comments.

Says that he got this idea from a comment he saw somewhere by Mark Trost, who a month ago said he was no longer participating here at OS, but has recently started posting again, however with comments closed.

I wondered about Mark's motivations. Well, not that much actually.

Matt's premise via Mark is apparently that if we all closed comments that the spammers would fold up their Russian and Chinese tents and just go away. And you know what? He/they could be right. Same could be said in regards to credit card payments. If we ALL refused to pay them for a month there would be a shockwave felt throughout the world.

But really, seriously guys? Do you think you are going to start a movement here?

Spam (which admittedly there was none of when I first started hanging out at OS) is nothing more than a small annoyance. You get a spam "comment" just delete it. It's a small pain but so what?

What is OS worth without the feedback from our peers? To me, not a damn thing.

If I wanted to write with comments closed why would I not just write in a journal?

Yes, in a perfect OS world we would not have spam comments or a clogged feed. But remember, not one of us pay a dime for getting to play, write, read and otherwise participate at OS. I find that to be a pretty good deal, and even if the site get's paid directly by the spam mafia I say more power to them. Someone has to buy Kerry and Thomas' lingerie.

What to do about the spam is very confusing! You're right about the comments. I think people like receiving them. I know I do. I've just gone into my 'manage comments' and erased the spam manually. Maybe I just stick to that...
Best Wishes,
Blittie
I like yourself have a good idea why the comments are closed on Mr Trost's blog. Took me about three seconds. But we are all free to do what we want and I RESPECT people. Okay murder and pillaging aside.

Huge problem here with spam but what are you going to do when you do not pay a dime like you said. I love my fellow OS writers and look forward to commenting every day on what they write.

I can deal with that spam on comments but what I have a problem with is the weekend onslaught and yes, it is coming in through comments but it is the BOT BLOGGING that kills me.

Matt had a good idea BUT...You might get rid of it for one day with some sort of plan.. But it will come back tenfold.. and i think we all know that
rated with hugs
Yeah, I'm against closing the comments, why write a blog otherwise?

But I'm also sooo against the spam, we might not pay a dime to blog here, but sheeeeeeesh, I, my lonely self, got like 15 of the damn things this weekend, and my manage comments is locking up badly, even if I sneak in on the wifey's work computer.

It's like 5 minutes to delete 1 comment. What the hell?

I don't blame Ed I Tor, I blame myself. Becoming SOOOO popular!! :D
I feel the same way. Some of us live for comments, thats all we'll ever get. I love the give and take of comments, thats the reason I bust my ass writing. Do we stop for a week? A month? These bloodsuckers will just come back. Screw that!
By the way, I already started the credit card revolt a coupla years ago. Feel free to join me!
Since Mart Trost seems to be the only person able to almost keep up with the spammers in posting, I am not convinced of his objectivity. Anyway, I don't have a problem with spam comments (three in three days!). But I'll be damned if I'm going to give Open Salon page views to look at page after page of lists of streaming sportscasts indefinitely.
Maybe if everyone stopped buying Mary Lin's stuff, the spamming might cease. I can only wear one pair of UGG Boots at a time.

Ya reckon mark toast just wants OS, all to himself?

(and thanks for leaving the comments open)

{[R]}
"If I wanted to write with comments closed why would I not just write in a journal?" Yup.~r
Spam is one thing, but now that damned live streaming crap is showing up during the week and clogging the feed.

Special plea to my friends and associates out there: I for one do not object, and in fact want, PMs when you've posted. Otherwise, they'll get lost in the shuffle.

And keep them comments rolling, ten-four?
You have pretty much said what I have been thinking about all this spam blow up. I was planning to blog my thoughts but you have saved me the trouble.
Trig, I joined in on the Credit Card Revolt many years ago. But they still thrive!! What's up with that? ;D
Blittie kitty. If anything is to be done about the spam (besides doing what you and I do) it'll have to be done by the OS management, and either they have no clue about how to handle the problem OR benefit directly from it.

Linda, Mark started closing comments after I left him one that didn't kiss his ass. Coincidence? We shall probably never know.

Tink, popular bloggers like US (!!!) that have like ten million comments on thousands of blogs have the hardest time deleting them. And yes, it's maddening. Nanatehay told me that after he deleted his whole blog it was much easier to delete spam.

Scanner, I know right! What's it worth without comments?

Mumbles, the streaming sports ones in new posts on the weekends is particularly frustrating. Yes, it chokes out our leetl bit of exposure. I do detest it also, but once again figure it must be (at least part of) how the site get's paid.

Lawrence... you've cleaned up! Ya know, if it wasn't for Mary Lin I STILL would never have heard of UGG boots. Someday I might even know what they look like. Or not...
OK, Tink, maybe you and some of the other BOFHs on here can explain why it's in Salon's interest to let this go on. Is there a revenue stream or something?
I just hit delete and the spam goes away Trig. I love the comments I get and the feedback here.
I be dammed if I know any answers to this mess. Cridit card revolt??
Hell, I ain't paid in a few years. what is the point if Ihave no credit?? I don't want anymore. I am on cash pay as I go, for what little cash I have now.
Not saying to do it forever, just try it for a couple of weeks. People who get EPs complain they get dozens of spam "comments" on those posts. Spam can't attach itself unless comments are open. I didn't do this as an endorsement of Mark Trost, but because it might work. Why cut off our nost to spite our face? Oops...
Joan H.... YUP

B1 my friend and long time supporter... sorry for not informing you of my every post. I pretty much gave that up after my content went so far downhill that I didn't think anyone would be interested.
And I think Tinks and me too believe they gets paid one way or another.

Stellaaa, you draw in all the nuts! I'm jealous!!!

Torman, you are quite welcome.

Tink, well that's at least two of us. I so seriously wish that EVERYONE who's rates got raised or has otherwise been fucked by credit card companies would JUST STOP PAYING THEM! It's unsecured credit. But oh my *wringing of hands* what about our credit score? WAAAAAAAAAAA!

Mission, WE are on the cash economy. No cash, no economy. It's a novel idea!
Hey Matt, it might actually work if everyone did it. Same as a credit card revolt as I stated. Problem is everyone won't do it. I know I won't. What's the point of posting otherwise? I'd be interested to hear Trost's theories here in comments. Don't actually believe that spam killing is his motivation.
Trig, I don't know any other way to stay on top of it these days, particularly on the weekends. I know it's a nuisance sending out the PMs, but it really helps.

It's a pain having to go to the "most recent" tab and change the setting from "all" to "favorites" and then go back and forth.
Where is Kerry Lauerman when we need him?
Trig, so we should delete all of our blogs then it'll be easier to delete comments? AWESOME!! But wait, I'll lose my one and only EP!! Boohooohooo!! I worked sooo hard for that 1 EP!! WAAAAA!!! Stupid Ed I Tor hating me for piddling on their roses!!!

And yeah, my credit score is zero, and getting better, some time soon, it'll be a negative something!! I know, BEST CREDIT RATING EVER!! ;D

Boaner, I'm not sure what the owners and operators of this site are getting out of NOT making it the best place to share spam recipes EVER!!! Maybe sex?

I think it may have been Nana who told me that. He found some secret file that had the big Plans on it, and part of that was ED I TOR GETS LAID!!

I doubt it's money cause with the spam, they're losing money, newbies will come on here, look at the feed cluttered with Spam and be turned away. And in return, revenues from clicks go down, fast.

Maybe it's drugs. Mary Lin has promised Ed a lot of primo cocaine if she's allowed to run her gang through her unchecked on the weekends.

Matt, the problem isn't with the comments at this point, it's the flood of Bot-posts hitting the feed. We close our comments, it just means now, nobody can tell me how I great I am(Yes, I have an ego, it's gotten bigger because of this place!! Thanks everyone!! My wife hates you, but pffffft!! :D) and we'll still get the spam posts because Open is so OPEN!!!!

We can shake our fists at the spammers, maybe that'll help, keeps those damn neighbor kids off the lawn!! ;D

**wanders off to go put some stuff on the new credit card he just got in the mail** Oh VISA, how dumb of you!! :D
As frustrating as it is, I think we have to keep individual vigilance by deleting spam from our own blogs. So far that's the only way. I've closed comments on one post over the weekend. I also tend to think that Mr T's motives and the rest of OS participants are not necessarrily the same at this point.
Rated.
I've found that if I don't click on OS the spam isn't as big a problem. My new favorite site, www.bavarianscatmunchers.com, is 100% spam free.
Kerry's out drinking tea, but the other day, on my one post, where I interviewed Ed I Tor, Emily stopped by. I was shocked and amazed too!! :D

I don't miss Kerry that much, he use to shake his fist at me when I piddled on his rose bushes.

:(

I miss Joan Walsh though. I only get to see her anymore on MSNBC!! And even then, she doesn't wear her hats anymore.

I miss the old days. When the Gutter Krew ruled the night.

Now, we barely rule our cocks!!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

**Runs off stage in tears**
Tink, drive to Denver, max out the new VISA on high potency marijuana (legally besides the you not paying the VISA bill part) and stop in KC on your back through. We'll trade some of the weed for primo cocaine, then trade it to the OS staffers for a couple of EP's!

Trig, sounds like a plan!! :D

HEY!! The damn comment cut off the best part of my post after the shitty rose!! Boohoohoo!!

BUY STUFF FROM ME! WE ACCEPT PYAPAL!! :D
FusunA, agreed and agreed.

nanatehay, et tu? It does get harder and harder to click at OS when you already know what football game you are going to watch anyway and the spamposts cover the feeds. Discouraging yes. I will seek a place that is not only spam free but scat free, although I appreciate the tip.

Tink, Kerry used to come to my posts regularly, and once Joan Walsh herself did even. But, Emily? YOU got a visit from Emily? Did she flag you?
"If I wanted to write with comments closed why would I not just write in a journal?"

Exactly. You want to be told if you're being smart or stupid or funny or pathetic. If you're not getting comments, what's the sense of even posting?
Spam comments I can deal with, live streaming football is a traffic jam. But as long as I can get my Tink fix, I'm in.
Trig, Kerry nor Joan ever came to a post of mine, Charles Yoo did, even favorited me, but he wasn't an Ed but a staffer over at the Salon.

Emily hit this post :

http://open.salon.com/blog/tinkerertink69/2010/10/18/tink_interviews_ed_i_tor_---_how_to_get_eped_--_or_not

I was like, OH MY GAWD, ED I TOR, HIT MY POST!! I was shocked and awe, almost tempted to stop making fun of the kitchen challenges(read, almost!! :D)

Here's the comment: "Dammit, Tink! I had no idea our secret plot to block you from all Internet access was so transparent..."

Awesome, I know. I know their plans, I hacked the Gibson or something and found the secret plans to turn Tink gay. Hahaha, fooled them, I'm already gay, or close enough to be included in the Best of Gay Pride 2010!!!

:D

She could have flagged me but from what I've been told by the same Ed I Tor, she gets the flags and comments put in the flag(so anytime you flag something, tell em Emily has nice eyes!! ;D)
Oh yeah and sixtycandles is the best!!!! ~nodding~ :)
>~~~~~

that's an eel. Someday, maybe a rose.

No spam comments? I need SPAM!

Cranky, as Tom Cordle might say, eggsactly.

sixty.. agreed that the sports posts are so freaking annoying. Once again AGAIN, surely they must pay OS. I mean, truly I HOPE that is not the case, but why else are they allowed to screw it up for us real contributors? Money talks, right.
(o) (o)

Look! Natural tits! You go to http://www.naturaltits.com and you get boobs!! Like natural tits!!

We accept pyapal.

:D

(I'm trying to spam you my friend till the real spammer show up(u're in the 4 hour feed --- on the cover ---- the spammers HAVE TO SEE YOU!! :D)
I don't mind the spam on my own posts so much. I can delete that, although as Tink pointed out, the "manage comments" feature has not worked well lately. I've been blaming Tink for that, although it appears I may have been a little hasty.

It's the feed problem that bothers me. I try keep up with my favorites (including you, Hemingway, although you owe me a comment!), but it's grown increasingly difficult to find good content from newcomers because Mary Lin and her huge clan clog up the plumbing.

My company that has a Web site with a very active comment feature, and we don't have this problem.
Welp, think I'm going to offline for a bit, go transfer my drug money into my bank account and then maybe go walk outside in the rain!!!

Here's hoping for some spam for you my friend!!!! Here's some more ----

Q Q

DROPPY TITS? THEN YOU NEED, PEP A TITS! NOW!! GO TO HTTP://WWW.PEPATITS.COM AND SAY, WE SEEN YOU ON OPEN.SALON FOR FIFTEEN DOLLARS OFF YOUR FIRST TREATMENT!!!!

GO THERE NOW! MAKE HASTE, NOT WASTE!!

WE ALL LOVE PEP A TITS!!
Before I go, High Lonesome, you should blame me, everything is my fault!! ;D

(P.S. please make haste and go tell Ed I Tor how your website keeps out the spammers!! PLEASE? ;D)
I understand Matt's point of view.
I also understand yours.
The problem as you have already stated is that not everyone is going to follow suit.
I'd suggest, though, to close comments on older posts. Somehow, once I got about twenty spam comments all at once, one going to every post with open comments option.
I refer to deleting spam as procrastination - it keeps me busy while I avoid doing, well, whatever.
I don't get much spam, and I think I know why. I r too stupid to imbed images, so basically what you get from me is a bunch of words.
My posts that get spammed consistently? One picture post - pictures of Coney Island.

The other two?A post that has abortion in the title and a post that has rape in the title. Mary Lin and her ilk must think that rape and abortion are hot topics for shoppers and sports fans.

There is no excuse for Salon to NOT solve this problem...that I can see, anyway. Better brains than mine have been offering solutions for months. Other sites don't have this problem.

I usually get error messaages when I try to log in. I took it personally for awhile - y'know, they have REALLY come up with new tricks to keep me off OS! Are they implying I should get a life/job?
But now I know I'm not the only one.
Now go to my latest blog post and amuse yourself endlessly for hours.
the day the browns beat the saints, the spam will end... roger goodell promised this.
Darned straight, Trig. No comments would be worse than a taco with no cheese.

Considering the alternative of cheeseless tacos, it only takes a visit to the "manage comments" page and a slow, but effective "delete" process to get rid of the problem.

But not having comments would suck the joy and life out of this place, especially since my commenters write better than I do!

Rated and hugs.
if we couldn't comment, we couldn't have tink ~~sob sob sob ~~ on everybody else's blog, could we? only his, and how not-so-fun would that be???

i actually think the spammy comments aren't as big a deal as the weekend streaming football crazy people thingy, whatever the fuck that stuff is, all blue letters, no pictures, no names of my cool friends.

can you fix that instead? or maybe we could just *talk* about fixing it? same thing? more fun? xo
think you are right, although it would be nice if they had like a checkbox to delete lots of comments at once.
I'd write for peanuts.

Since OS won't pay me my peanuts, I'll settle for comments - the ego must be fed!!

I don't know what I ever did to those spammers but they don't come to my blogs anymore. Does it have something to do with how often one posts a blog? I don't post often. I got the weird idea, a while back, that changing one's ISP number could help. I've been shutting down completely, including my modem, every night. I get a new ISP assigned every morning when I start up. I don't get that spam. Is there a connection? I dunno. I'm a computer tyro.
Amen! This is exactly what I think. Thanks for putting it out there so eloquently! R!!!!
You dickwaffle! That last line made coffee go up my nose!

P.S. I agree with you, BTW... even if you ARE an asshat!
Good stuff here Trig. I actually would like to say more, but don't want to offend anyone. It's just not that important to me. People who post several times a day, quit and then advise everyone on a strategy that basically changes the concept of OS doesn't sit well with me. We do have an issue here, but we can't solve it. It is up to management. Unfortunately I wish I had a real suggestion. Maybe if we wrote the chamber of commerce and asked for some of that electioneering money they are spewing out, we could fix this site. bahahahaha.
I hate it when the MOST READ feed starts to look like a sports-watching nut's paradise.
It really shouldn't even be an issue.
R
I do a half and half. I keep the comments open for a day or so and if spammers are still coming then I close them. By then most people who are going to read have done it and I can rest fingers weary from deleting. I suppose I could let the spammers have their way with the posts at that point (why do they put them on old posts anyway???) but I can't stand them.
Call me a Chicken-Little alarmist -- but don't you dare call me a Beck conspirasist -- but I'm afraid all that spam is a sign of something more sinister. I suspect spam is all that's keeping this operation afloat at the moment, and we who have been witness to the decline will soo bear witness to the fall of this once lovely little village.
Why I gottabe "dickwaffle?"
I'm wondering if everyone should start copying and pasting their posts (and comments if they want them) in case this place closes down without any warning or notice....?
Papa Trig, we gotta have open comments, what are we gonna do with our pathetic lives if we don't have ego strokes as MT expounds as five more posts go in the feed..
Here's what I can't figure out, you guys get the people selling shoes and Russian hookers. I get thoughtful spammers who just happen to slip a link line into their comments. Heck, they are on topic and never really say if you click on the blue line they will sell you something, so I leave them up.
With that logic is would be even more effective to stop writing. I find Trost's suggestion weird and anti-social.
SPAM rules the joint, no doubt. I've often thought about copying my blog to disc. It's a history of sorts for my kid... somewhere down the road. Would cry real tears if it disappeared
Mark's new blog in full, released 8 minutes ago and "copyrighted."

"You can't do this to me," he whispered. "You can't treat people like this. Tell me the truth. Am I right or not?"
What sort of moron would suggest closing comments unless you were in the midst of a flame war. I think we're all being very nice here lately, since we are ALL hating the SPAM. Maybe the Spammers like dust-ups.
Send him to my link. It is the solution to everyone's problems.
I would not close comments. I delete them as fast as they appear. Without comments, and the ability to comment, this blog site would be useless to me.
OS should do more to filter out spam, but w/o comments, OS is useless.
"is would be even more?" Love you Lea!
Yes, where would we be without comments?

And meta is always the best in that regard. People you haven't seen forever and people you have NEVER seen come out of the wood work for a fine meta post like this. Think I'm gonna go full meta, two meta posts a day from here to eternity. Still disappointed that the only spam I received so far was from Tink (but it was good spam, spam kitty!). Go figuuuuuuuuuuuure!
I'm with you, Trig. If they put more hoops in the membership process, ones that can't be done by bots, that would help. And, all they need to do is deputize a couple of us as moderaters and we could police it ourselves. But NOOOOOOOOO......
As usual, your unique brand of trigonomics is correct. Half the joy in writing and reading here is in the connections made. I've got my additional blogspot blog to write on if I want no more than a dozen people to read it.....including my mother. I cross post because the composing features on blogspot are better and faster....then I cut and paste. But it is a dead zone in terms of reciprocity.
Closing comments would only be a temporary fix. Eventually, the spammers would return.
Posts left up over the weekend are the biggest spam annoyance...I get maybe 60 or 70 between Fri. and Monday. Deleting them is almost like playing a video game....how many, how fast. With all there is to worry about in life, I put the spamming problem dead last. But maybe I just have a lousy life.
Is it possible to copyright a META post?
GOT ONE!!!

Thanks dgbtfh.. I'm leaving you up so all my gazillion readers will buy stuff from you. Most of us here are RICH, RICH, RICH...
Apparently, real writers aren't supposed to need feedback, or take the consideration of their readers when writing. Which could be true. If you are certain you are a real writer, then close your comments. If you feel compelled to spout what you like, and have conflicting opinions sent to your PM box, go ahead. For those of us, and it appears many of us, the "relationships" we have here keep a fire of connectivity burning that we may not have in our daily lives. I think some (who I will not name) have used this place as a way to reach out for help and got it, through comments and other forms of support that would not be evident if not for everyone being able to see the posted comments. Maybe if women covered their faces, legs and bodies more, men wouldn't hit on them so much. Yes, brilliant !
You know what the bottom line is for me? (STFU, Trig...)

It's that I LIKE to leave comments on people's posts. I LIKE telling them that I like their post or that they are absolutely whacked. If they close their comments I can't do that. So I'D be quite the dickwaffle myself if I closed my own comments, now wouldn't I?
I could not agree with you more. Closing the comments field is not going to deter the spammers. Not posting on the weekends maybe.
Nothing to add but a rate and a bump.
( good old dgbtfh ...)
Yeah, what Amy said. How would I get to learn a new word like dickwaffle if there were no comments to read. This is going to be a really useful word. Thanks Amy.
Trig, your post only goes to show the inescapable value of comments. I've just compiled a short list of everyone I consider a dickwaffle. The next, and most enjoyable step will be to actually throw the word in his direction!
Personally, I'm a deleter. I delete spam, I delete telephone numbers. I do not delete friends. Oh wait! That's another post...
R
I agree. The comments are what we're here for. I write all by myself day after day, and I love writing but it's lonely. OS gives me a chance to get feedback, and audience, and even though it's hard to get attention on OS these days, that's why I'm here. My comments will be open too.
Closing the comments will do nothing to deter the spammers. It is just diminishing aspects of the site, with very little return whatsoever. If the common beliefs are to turn off comments and stop posting on weekends, then I am gone. There are other alternatives that are not nine to five - Monday through Friday. That business model is rather antiquated to apply to the internet.
This is the kind of attention I've been needing! And it took all of three minutes to write. We do love the OS issues.
" trigonomics" al la Susan CJ. See what I mean? Where would these gems go if comments were closed?
Isn't Dick Wiffle a game show host on GSN?
When exactly did all this spam start? After an absence of more than a year, I came back to OS and found spam everywhere. Then I wrote my first post since a zillion years ago and almost peed my pants when I checked my email and found out how many comments I had. But alas, not only were many of them spam on my new post, but older posts as well.

On other sites, I have to enter a code before my comment is posted. I'm told it's to weed out spam. How hard would it be for OS to install something like that? I'd prefer that to personally approving each comment before it's posted, or closing comments.
I composed a long, insightful comment, but when I hit "Post this comment" I was required to sign in. ?? Usually you can't access the post-a-comment box if you're not signed in. Anyway, I lost the comment and all of OS is the poorer for it. I'm not up to doing such magnificent commenting TWICE in one day, so...

Besides, I don't know who I am, Myriad or used-to-be-Myriad.
EMILY::::: YOU'RE FIRED!!!! Problem solved.
@ Myriad - the main thing is, you're a big blue groper again.
You and trig's " Got one !" remind me everything can be turned into fun if you want. Spam like fish, and exclaim when you catch one - at least you can throw it back.
Not so much the shoals of mullet on the feed though, sadly.
I completely agree. Spam is so annoying but not bad enough to sacrifice the pleasure of having people comment on my writing.
I make a game out of deleting the spam as fast as it appears. I'm aligned with the Close Comment? WTF crowd. All the value of the site would be lost for me.

Lezlie
I don't really care about the spam comments, I just go in and delete them. But what bothers me is the multiple blogs posted by those bots that make accessing OS impossible at times! I couldn't access OS at all several times last week. I like having comments, both positive and negative, and the only comments I will delete are the spammers! R
Proud and Progressive,

The spam problem started last March. At first, the posts selected as EP would get two or three per day in the comment section (perhaps more). Then, shortly thereafter, the highly read or rated posts were hit perhaps 10 to 20 times per day. At that point, I assume the spammers realized that OS was doing nothing. Thus, they quickly expended their attack. I say sometime early summer, the spammers started “writing” articles (wink wink) (such as the famous TV sports ads we now see non-stop), in addition to writing comments. The “articles” are probably bots, while the spam comments are actually written by humans aka Chinese people.

Back to the topic of this post: I agree that closing down the comment section won’t solve anything. I don’t have the time to expand on this suggestion.
I don't seem to get any spam. Do you think there's something wrong with me? I just get messages from lonely Russian women.
Kanuk, thanks for the explanation.

Cindy, yes I do miss Freaky!!!!
Recently I only had time to post on the weekends and then OS was so spammed out I didn't bother. I posted tonight because WTF, even on the Titanic the band played on ... but I do think it is a good idea everyone have backup for their work. I guess I'm ahead of the game having already taken down 99% of my blogs, ha! I always assume everyone has a copy before they post anyways ... Logging off of OS when not on cut way down on the spam I was getting in comments but I guess that is obvious.

For a free forum I could put up with deleting spam comments but it is now beyond control with the streaming that is the worst issue. I took it as a sign to get off my ass and get outside and rake leaves on weekends :)
Post no comments...are you crazy some cats will die in here man w/out posts. He He He. Just Delete me if I spam you.:D
We'll be in real trouble when the spambots start having photo avatars, and reading our posts. How will we know when we've earned the ratings, and the comments sincere? Ooooooo, trouble.
I'd miss Freaky if I hadn't just had tea with her and Kerry in China, lovely place, address of 117.26.203.168!!!! We had Ugg Boots too, just giving to us!!

It was wonderful!!!

I would have invited you all, but Kerry said, sorry, he only had room for his bestest friends, all two of us!! :D

What?
Is the comment counter broken now?

When I woke up it said 102, then 103, now 101.

Will someone do a manual count for me?

Kidding of course. Hopefully the folks at command central will do something, or AT LEAST address or acknowledge the situation. However, not holding my hillbilly breath.

Thanks for all the feed back.
"When I woke up it said 102, then 103, now 101.

Will someone do a manual count for me?

Pfffft! If any of us could count that high do you really think we'd be commenting on THIS post? Geez, dude... you are such a moran!

(yes, I did have a cup of tea this morning, why???)

On to more important duck season news, I got two drakes and one hen mallards this morning. I felt kind of bad about the hen because she is the only one we've hit so far (out of 11 ducks). I think I'll just have to consider her to be collateral damage and bury her in the garden after I'm done plucking and gutting the males.
;~)
Amy, I tried to count but got lost in the teens. So, I hear ya...

Soooooo, you ain't gonna eat the shrill bitch duck that you shot?
Shame, shame!
All my favs are here ~ great party Trigger. Comments are getting tosty and I love burnt tost. bwahhhhaaahahahahahah...ha
You made a nice little comment party here. We would have missed it if comments were closed. I have come around to accepting that this spam thing is bigger than we can fathom or address. Starting an OS resistance seems futile. Like others, I am finding other things to do, and feel sad about it. This was fun though. Thanks for the good time Trig.
SB's Amy PM'd this to me in response to my last comment to her. She should know that the P in 'private' message is only as private as the receiver deems...

I deem that it should be up for all to read because it is PRICELESS!

""Soooooo, you ain't gonna eat the shrill bitch duck that you shot?
Shame, shame!""

"Actually I always believed in the "if you shoot it you eat it" rule.

Our neighbor went out with us this AM and when I told him I felt bad about shooting a hen he replied with a VERY smart assed "I thought you lezbeans LIKED eating women!"

I threw the hen at his head, but he caught it and took it home.

:~D "
I LIVE for comments. Won't give up my addiction, despite the spam.
SWEETFEET
You is late!

(thanks)
