Those who have followed me here at OS already know that in late 2008 following the Bush bank bail out (the last Repub rip-off as they exited Capital Hill), I became an unwilling customer of Bank of America.
Unwilling, yes... wasn't my doing. BoA took over the failed criminal enterprise known as Countrywide, therefore becoming my mortgage "service provider."
The frozen and stagnant economy brought on by the banksters and their partners on the hill made life pretty tough for me, a self-employed home improvement contractor. Those few that still had money to spend on my services were hoarding.
Who could blame them? 401k's lost value or disappeared altogether. Massive layoffs and business failures. People without jobs can't pay mortgages; the same banks that caused the crisis fired up the foreclosure machine...
Long story short, I too lost my home of 12 1/2 years, after being told by BoA that my mortgage modification was approved.
Yes, they lied. Go figure!
Like I said, if you have followed me, you already know my story in detail. I blog everything!
Forward to this last Saturday: I noticed an ad on the right side of my facebook page...

... then, hastily, as I didn't have much time, wrote this blog, asking my OS friends to leave comments at the BoA sponsored facebook page (it didn't take but an hour from the time I started leaving comments before they banned my contributions, and I was angry).
Sunday morning, I had an OS private mail from Erik Sherman of CBS News 'Moneywatch.'
Apparently my OS post, which had been shared to facebook by Linnnnnnnnnn, was seen there by Erik who is her friend going all the way back to High School (that's a long time... HI LINNNNN!).
"Erik Sherman to tr ig

" Share with everyone...both tr ig and the author of the article could make BofA cut out the self-aggrandizing gladhanding once and for all and finally grow some semblance of a soul."
Ya think Linnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn? I'm doubting, but it doesn't hurt to dream.
Perhaps executives should learn an important lesson in modern communications: social media doesn't cure foot-in-mouth disease"
I'd do it but I'm already banned...
MTN, alrighty then. I'll volunteer to fluff the girls for you.
You're particularly quick today.
Congrats on the attention from the mainstream media!
When I walk into our BofA branch, it is literally empty and has been for a couple years, whereas there used to be a line out the door, especially on Fridays. Is that because there are no paychecks around here? Possibly, but most everyone in town has bailed on the bank, regardless.
Too bad the credit union around here gouges just like the big boys.
So you're famous now, eh? Please don't forget us little people on whose shoulders you clambered to fame and fortune.
The big banks borrow or use money from us to loan to others, it's a form of pimping where they aren't the ones doing the actual work. They are too big to succeed, if they don't collapse and the money get moved to smaller banks they will take us all down.
This is just a giant land grab and they are succeeding.
"When it takes an institution (BoA) 18 months to be convinced that your husband has died, even though they received NUMEROUS copies of the death certificate....you call this a community organization? I'll be the first one in line when this bank goes belly up.....NEVER AGAIN WILL THEY GET MY MONEY."
"Bank of America is nothing more than a bunch of corporate thieves. They care no more for US citizens than Al-Quaeda."
and my personal favorite:
"When I walk past your building I think... That will make a marvelous dinner theatre..."
I'm sure many other BoA victims will pick up the flag, you dropped and continue to socially alienate BoA... for everyone they ban, there will be 10 more people with complaints... BoA is a classic example of "you reap what you sow."
MTN, bet I'm not as quick as you... heehee
Just Thinking... quit walking in there. Ewwww!
nanatehay, I could give MTN kissing lessons, and might for a trip to the Baltic. As far as famous.. I'm still every bit as poor. Forgive my boot marks on your back :)
bleue, good on you, posting there on the land grabbers glad hands happy page!
Mojo, I think OS should buy me lunch or something, in lieu of editorial recognition of my foul mouthed and poorly executed blogs that butcher our language.
Sheila... DING!
Leonde... great grab of comments at the official happy BoA site, comments that are now most assuredly deleted. The one about the "marvelous dinner theater" made me fall to the floor in laughter!!!
xo
Banks and corporations will NEVER "police themselves" if left unfettered by regulation. The "building a community" *like* ad on FB is a souless piece of PR spin-trickery for which BofA should hang its corporate head in shame. Open Salon's tr ig sounded a clarion call for a criminal investigation of BofA resulting in a massive punitive correction of episodes such as the one tr ig endured and shared."
That comment is at Erik Sherman's piece. BRAVA, but who the heck is LL Trieber?
Nick, is isn't it :) Thx
Jeff, thank you too. "Stirring it up" is me. It's what I do.. to some degree, sometimes... ha
Ewww is right.
The bored tellers looked at me hungrily.
Wow.
"The bored tellers looked at me hungrily."
Fucking crazy funny!!!
Lezlie
Well, fine then! I'm going to just ignore you from now on and move all of my money to BofA!
Somebody coulda mentioned "THE FILTERS !!!!"
You are such an order of toast waiting to happen.
I love that word. I really do.
This is beyond cool.
Or is that, soon-to-be rich & famous, tr ig?
Do You expect to be sharing Your voluminous bounty with those who have long been supportive and appreciative of who You are?
Tom, please have mercy on my computer screen.

I'm enjoying a deep belly laugh. Not for your predicament, of course, but for the soupçon of justice it describes. Hooray!
Good on ya Trigger!

"Beulah Clark How soon we forget the reasons we have our money there to begin with. The credit union and community banks have always been a option. I love BAC and appreciate all you do for our community.

"Aggie Spero why are banks doing so many forclosures? Why not lower the interest rates on forclosures before going into forclosures so people can afford their mortgages.

John Castello I was in one of your banks in Silicon Valley last week making a deposit for my mother. There was 12 people in line and only one teller who got pulled away by a desk person, leaving no one serving your customers. Until a lady inline requested to talk to the manager.
Sustainability, how about hiring more tellers to sustain your own service.

Tha Prezident-- my community is in the middle of a gentrification process - where big business and wealth folks will win - promising that they will help our community - when really they are taken it over and putting poorer people out in to another depressed neighborhood- they are not even offering jobs to the original occupants of the community - Their vision is only to get richer - not to truly build and improve anything for anyone - other than themselves - But that's American - Bank - Right?

Mitch Blanco Bank of America is one of the main banks that destroyed the American dream and brought disaster to the US economy. BoA is also involved in in trying to kill our hopes that debt is the only way. Capitalism is dead! The sooner BoA realizes this, the sooner the American people can go forward with renewable energy and more positive things for our future. For those who are still banking with BoA, please open your eyes and see just how badly BoA has hurt America, American people and American dreams.

BTW, closed my "savings account" --meager as it is, with BofA. Am in process of closing checking account....
But you know what? I doubt they will. They are entirely too fucking stupid.
Booo B of A. Social networking is so good for this. Not enough for me to join up, but I am so happy you worked it. It appears others are as well. The page will have disappeared by tomorrow morning.

I work for a community health service for the uninsured. Each week I see an increasing number of clients without health insurance, whose rapid financial decline started with a foreclosure on their homes in spite of every good faith measure to prevent it. The bank I most often hear about as the perpetrator is our "community builder friend", BofA. Their Facebook site is among the most egregious and cynical marketing campaigns for corporations I've ever heard in my life. Has anyone looked at the comments on BofA FB page? Take a look and watch what's happening over time...multiple negative statements about them that disappear after only a short period. I guess they don't like the criticism. Too bad. The people are speaking, loud and clear."

The ones complaining about the banks are the ones that abuse their accounts and expect to get away with not maintaining minimum balances, writing bad checks, writing overdrafts, etc. by not having to pay any fees for their irresponsibility. I don't have to pay any fees with my bank because I'm responsible enough and understand what my responsibilities are as a customer.

Sorry, but that is incorrect. If you think that a sudden shift in personal fortune isn't possible and that such a situation couldn't drive you into difficult times if you simply didn't want it to, then you don't have much sense of history or current events. A sudden financial calamity is enough to push most people into being unable to maintain minimum balances and enough working capital to stay out of financial trouble. Your statement is also factually incorrect on the surface, unless you think the likes of Paul Krugman and Elizabeth Warner don't know how to handle their money. Maybe you've completely missed, via some high-profile lawsuits, how some banks like BofA arrange the order in which the profit debit charges to maximize the number of transactions that are considered overdrafts. In any case, your statement suggests that you are drawing grossly inaccurate generalizations which undercut your own argument."
As someone said, this is just the first step for our intrepid blogger and gutter krew member, Tr ig. Let us hope that BofA doesn’t get the chance to foreclose on the rest of the stairs. Go Tr ig, GO!! Us cats has yer back!!

.
you and Julian Assange might have something in common... !
...That Wikileaks has yet to release all of the "Bank of America" leaks because, according to Assange (though, in answering, he did not specify how, nor who) quote, "we are under a type of blackmail in relation to these documents..." [J.Assange.]
(from a discussion, I covered on my blog, between Slavoj Zizek and Julian Assange in London, earlier this year.)
Go tr ig ger!
Be sure to write another post when you wake up with a horses' head in your bed.
Meanwhile, way to f-'em up!
The furs flying now dude. Awesome! And congrats.
You should have read my 2 page FB BoA rant... it was inspired. No one bothered to read it, of course. Finally someone broke through the complacency. Get 'em killer!
Congrats my friend(for some reason, some news organization have hit my posts, and not the ones you think they would....they LOVED the ChristianMingles.com review I put up!! ~:D)
