" So on the crisis goes, in all likelihood, resulting in the Iranian regime making some serious misstep, which will result in a war at some point in 2012.

I don't watch the news, right. Yes, said it yesterday and it's true, believe me. However, once again today I was unfortunately ear-assaulted with "news" from my dear NPR on the way to the Dollar General up the hill to obtain a carrot peeler.

"... which will result in a war at some point in 2012" particularly caught my attention.. There's talk of [Iran] warning the US not to patrol the straits of Hormuz with it's Naval fifth fleet... "a warning that the US Navy will ignore."

Navy?... My son is finishing "A-school" and will soon receive his Navy deployment orders.

I have a vested interest it seems.. but then again, it's safe to say in my estimation that WE ALL DO!

Target: Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan who was killed in Tehran today when two motorcyclists attached a magnetic bomb attached to a carTarget: Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan who was killed in Tehran by a car bomb

"yesterday morning two men on motorbikes attached a magnetic explosive device to a car containing Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, a 32-year-old chemist who was deputy director for commercial procurement at the Natanz nuclear plant. He died immediately"

Hmmm, didn't know that this guy was the fourth nuclear scientist to be similarly blown to bits in the last two years. These are things we rarely hear about, correct? Especially if we ignore "the news" but I suspect most of YOU haven't heard either. Feel free to shout out here if you have.

Who are these motorbike assassins? Iran blames the US and Israel and I tend to agree that there may be a possibility they are right.

Thinking to myself... if "we," whomever exactly we may be, have the capability of putting ballsy motorcycle bombers on the streets of Tehran itself to blow up the smart guys, then why bother to invade yet another country?

Have a bad feeling about all this though... very bad.

I was aware of the other dead Persian scientists, as well as some fishy explosions on Iranian missile facilities and the infection of some of their uranium enrichment centrifuge arrays with the "Stuxnet" computer virus, but then I'm a freak that way. Regardless, there's little doubt the Israelis and/or the US were involved in the ongoing operations to slow up the Iranian nuclear program. The big questions right now are, will the Iranians try something stupid like trying to block the Straits of Hormuz in retaliation for tightened sanctions, and might we try something equally stupid like a massive bombarbment campaign to take out their nuke and missile programs? Let's hope both sides keep their heads and don't do anything rash.
Oh I KNEW you knew... that's part of why I don't watch. If I have questions I can call you for a summary. ]
I don't think the Iranians, and I too prefer "Persians" as I bet most of them do, are really up for war... that they will once again hit the streets in protest of their own wacky governments actions, something that our own citizenry has not the gumption for... apparently
It never ceases to amaze me that after we trample all over other country's sovereignty and the threaten to fight back, we start screaming that they are being "aggressors" & "lunitics" and must be stopped! Fuck THAT! If we wouldn't have been imperialistic douchebags in the first place 99% of the wars of the last 50 years wouldn't have occurred in the first place!

BTW, when your son graduates I hope he gets stationed on the USS Middle of Freakin Nowhere so that he stays out of harms way (whether he wants to or not!).
Dammit Amy, they're tear-a-wrist Moozlimz and they gotta be stopped!
I fully expect an engagement of some degree in the Straits of Hormuz this year. It's sabre rattling today some would say, but it's getting real dicey when the smaller guy tells the bigger guy he may not cross the line. The bigger guy isn't the bigger guy anymore if he listens. The bigger guy in this instance won't want to lose status. It does not bode well.
From the linked article: "Iran's naval chief has boasted that closing the Strait will be as easy as drinking a glass of water. He forgets that one of those US carriers has more airpower on board than most countries dispose of, backed up by a huge strategic bomber fleet and satellite intelligence of incredible sophistication."

What I fear is some kind of ground war. Yet a-fucking-gain. Why? Let's pray against the US-MIC powers that would love that way too much.

Amy thanks about Eli.. me too.

aka: We, the USA, don't care that we are beyond broke. We'll borrow money, more money, then invade our creditors, or otherwise wipe the financial slate clean. It's insanity.
All I can say is, dangerous career choice being a nuclear scientist in Iran!! ~nodding~

Seriously though, yeah, it will probably end up at war with Iran. You tell that boy of yours to keep his head down when the shit hits cause well, we, The Cats of Indiana, aka me, likes him!!!!!

And if he sees a motorcycle heading his way if he's on the streets of Iran, GET AWAY FROM THE NUCLEAR SCIENTIST HE'S ESCORTING TO THE BRIG!! eek!!!!

~nod~
Tink, I know.. cuz the motorbike assassins, don't give a shit WHO is escorting the nuclear scientists! Wouldn't be the first time we blew up our own ya know. I'll tell him.. bet he's reading anyway
dhddd.. ha.. you're cool. I know about NPR. Can make doom and gloom sound like an Easter Sunday egg-hunt. Peace baby ~
Hey, I listen to NPR sometimes too when I'm driving. But really, here I am trying to *escape* (once again) on a Friday night and you have to bring real world events up? You **trigger** of all people should know ... happiness is warm, (yes it is), gun. Or missile or motorcycle bomber.

Scary stuff. Remind Eli, he can always skip the "real" Navy part, come home and go to school. :)
Politicians of any kind should never be put in charge of anything! They strut and preen and boast and threaten and NEVER, EVER, EVER have to, themselves, fight the wars they start.

We need a rule that says, "whenever our country gets involved in any war where we have not been attacked on our own soil, we execute the government that got us into it." Watch how fast them 'mothers' develop their negotiating skills when their own asses are on the line!
.
I'd like to see every chicken hawk senator forced to include a 10% tax surcharge attached to any declaration of war.

We would have been out of Iraq in a few months if the public was forced to pay an itemized tax surcharge to cover the costs.
Hey Scarlett happiness IS! He ain't "skipping" oh no..

Sky I agree wholeheartedly. Written into law.. YOU WILL BE EXECUTED! I imagine how awesome Merika could be with part of that defense budget..

Out for the night... carry on
Tr ig,
Yeah! Unfortunately your government (like most these days) has its head up its ass and your population (again, like most) has its head in the clouds. Bad combination.
.
All balls and bluster and no one can back down. Chicks don't act like this. When we finally get over this penis-behind-the-podium fixation and at long last put a woman in charge...it won't be all rainbows and unicorns but we might be able to beat some swords into plowshares. Might.
I had no idea. Of course we're doing it...just like we're fighting a drone war with them now (I mean we're NOT fighting a drone war with them since we deny having drone technology, even though they've captured our drones).

We've invaded or "liberated" every country that borders Iran, and while we were able to leave many fewer troops in Iraq that we (not me, but...ya know) want to, we have troops in every country bordering Iran and we are keeping our most destructive and aggressive weapons of war (the Trident Submarine, which is only good for 1st strikes) at their doorstep constantly.

All so they can't develop a nuclear weapon, because if they do, then like North Korea, we won't be able to fuck with them and tell them what to do any longer.

I'd say that war with Persia is inevitable, but we started it so long ago that it's not inevitable. It's ongoing. (this was sweet piece of info, Trig...thanks!!!)
nana, I am afraid we are preparing for the war at Armageddon. I know you know my thoughts on God, but they don't matter. When enough people believe in the prophecy, whether or not it was true when it was written is irrelevant. It has become true and it may just coincide with the Mayan calendar so that two incredible stupid prophecies become self-fulfilling.

I don't think there's anything scientific to those predictions, but the mass psychological impact may be enough to make them both true (talk about killing 2 birds with one stone, we may just kill all the birds on our entire little 3rd stone from the gassy fireball)
Bad feeling indeed. It's obvious someone wants it stopped. The US certainly does, as do others I would imagine. Seems to add up.
Oh, hell. You're taking all the fun out of being in the Mossad.
Report: Mossad agents posed as CIA to recruit anti-Iranian terrorists

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/01/13/report-mossad-agents-posed-as-cia-to-recruit-iranian-terrorists/

WASHINGTON — Agents with Israel’s Mossad agency posed as American CIA agents in operations to recruit members of the Pakistani militant group Jundallah, a report in Foreign Policy magazine said Friday.
Does this surprise anyone, really? The surprise to me is that we even heard about it. The Wiki leaks bombshell blew up and briefly revealed the depth and breadth of a sea of secret information, and then...silence. Behind that silence are many very busy people, I am sure.
I was in Iran when the Shah was overthrown and have dealt with I ran in the past. Actually I believe it is the work of both depending on the evidence presented to the public. The Iranians have always had a resistemce and factional religious groups within that have in the past executed several attempted assination sand bombings over the years some paid for in part from foreign money no doubt. The Stutnex virus was also foreign derived but many are cupable and should be considered also. Iran is not well liked in the Arab commu nity as a whole. Pres Ahmafuckyourbutt is nothing more than an antagonist. Most Iranians would like the religious fanatics in power out. The Iranian's Dictator Imam and Ayatollah's are sweating it big time and everyone knows it and Iran is being pushed into either destruction by military or collapse of government as they know it. The Israeli's do not bargain for peace and all that is needed for Iran to be attacked by them is the US blessing and they will not ask for that. I do hope your son is not put in harms way but that is what they are trained to do and if needed I'm more than sure your son will perform his duties as he has been taught. My best to him. The Iranian's should be the least of his worries. Great post tr ig Thunder I hope my little essay alleviates some of your worries and my best to you as always my friend...........o/e r
Old New Lefty had a post up about this, so it wasn't news to me. As I said on Lefty's post, we can't afford another war and Iran is getting everything it wants in the Mideast without firing a shot, so I doubt they're anxious to start a war. But the exercises in the Straits of Hormuz are troubling because accidents do happen, whether deliberate or otherwise.

As for the assassins, the Israelis are out to prove nobody's safe from Mossad. I said a long time ago that a two-dollar bullet carefully aimed at Saddam would have accomplished the same thing as our long, otherwise fruitless war with Iraq. Instead Bush and Rumsfeld went off to war for their glory, while Cheney went for the spoils of Halliburton.
