"Love Interruption" by Jack White.. preview of new release

Rate: 19 Flag
A text this morning from my girl... four words,

"Jack White Love Interruption."

My reply: "song?"

Her: "Gotta listen just heard it on the radio."

Me: "I love Jack White. Will look up."

Her: "Must be new if you haven't heard it."

So I did... google it that is.

It's an early release from his first solo album, "Blunderbuss," due to be out April 24th, 2012. Something to look forward to, as I have in fact always been a huge fan.

The vid above shows lyrics on the screen. Third verse below...

"I want love to
forget that you offended me
or how you have defended me
when everybody tore me down"

Auto-biographical? I'd say yes. Disturbing... cynically haunting. The man writes from gut level, and is an incredibly talented musician who happens to have one of the best male singing voices of this century, IMHO!

The sound on "Love Interruption" is a departure from previous "White Stripes" or "Raconteur" productions... a departure, but instantly recognizable as uniquely Jack White. Yes, I'll be looking forward to the full release in April.

If you've read this far you might be curious enough to explore the links above where you can discover, for example, Jacks' given Christian name, the story of his youth in Detroit and how he met and married Meg White (whose last name he took). Meg, of course, was the other half of the two piece band "the White Stripes" (dissolved just over a year ago).

For quite a matter of time, they were said to be brother and sister, a rumor they reportedly started to "keep the focus on the music."

Jack and Meg as "the White Stripes" punking out their first hit single "Fell in Love With a Girl" on Letterman...

(second verse)

" Red hair with a curl
mellow roll for the flavor
and the eyes were peeping
can't keep away from the girl
these two sides of my brain
need to have a meeting
can't think of anything to do
my left brain knows that
all love is fleeting
she's just looking for something new
and I said it once before
but it bears repeating"

Jack White and Loretta Lynn trading verses and
harmonizing on vocals in "Portland Oregon."

Even with three chart-topping bands on his resume, the prolific White continued to involve himself in a variety of other well-received side projects. In 2005, he produced Loretta Lynn's highly praised comeback album Van Lear Rose, helping the country music legend reach a new generation of fans."

Good stuff!!!

By the way, me and Eli, Tina (his mom) and my brother Jeff saw "the White Stripes" perform live at a small KC venue after the release of "Elephant" in, I believe, 2003.

Rock on Jack... might even actually BUY your upcoming CD.. I swear!

Trig, thanks for posting about Jack and related music that includes "The White Stripes." Jack certainly has a lot of talent!

Just as a side note here, I did get to wondering about the lyrics in "Love Interruption" as to whether Charles Manson might have given an assist in writing them.
I'm a huge fan of his as well. Thanks for the tip off.
Ha Des.. Charlie Manson? Easy now!

D-Rat... you're welcome. I'm pretty isolated I guess, media-wise, and wouldn't know about this if it wasn't for the text this morning, so thought I would share for other fans who might equally un-knowing.

Daisy.. agreed with you and designanator that those lyrics are... at the least disturbing. But I like that about him. Reminds me of Lucinda Williams' writing style... somewhat.
SEVEN NATION ARMY..
""I want love to
forget that you offended me
or how you have defended me
when everybody tore me down"

Some deep stuff there!! ~RATED~

~Wanders off in tears~
rock n roll, hootchie coo!
lawdy mama light my fuse....

musical communion betwixt the sexes=paramount.
remember the mix tapes of old?
ya got a girl on the Hook, &
give her a tape, sayin
"i made this for you"

what is your mood, Dear Lady?
Send me a song.
I shall reciprocate
in kind.

(arg: last one of mine was of course sending her a Dylan
after the poor dear thing offered me
an Fiona Apple or somesuch.. : ) )

"whtta fuck that shit? that guy!? yikes, ye gawd, he yellin
about end of the world, or something!"

"mmm."

"and he aint too correct in his politics, is he? this
'it aint me babe /no no no' or this
'dont think twice/
i aint sayin u treated me unkind
you just kinda wasted my precious time..."

"oh, but..well."
Tink- my apologies!!!

James, Dylan mix tapes? Not necessarily conducive to romance man!
Trig, I am pretty much stuck in the 60's and earlier music so it's always great to learn of a new (to me) singer or band. Liked this music a lot. Thanks for the work you put in here, R
Very cool. I've been listening to Jack recently in The Dead Weather (Sea of Cowards is my new favorite album) and The Raconteurs:

I was instantly drawn when it came on the radio this morning, rocking out on the way to the bat cave. Thank you for a bit of White Stripe history.
wendyo.. I have the same habit.. stuck in the sixties, but TRY to keep an ear open to new stuff too, although admittedly I'm pretty picky these days. White's music passes the litmus test for me.

Jeff, ah the Dead Weather... just listened and will check out more too. Apparently, White is on the drums...

"Meanwhile, Jack White and fellow Raconteur Jack Lawrence were getting ready to launch yet another alt-rock supergroup, The Dead Weather, alongside Alison Mosshart of The Kills and Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age. In contrast to The White Stripes, where White sang lead vocals and played the guitars, in The Dead Weather he played the drums. (Mosshart took over lead vocals duty, while Fertita played lead guitar and Lawrence played bass.) The band was conceived in an informal jam session, but ended up recording two full albums: Horehound (2009) and Sea of Coward (2010). Both debuted in the top ten of the U.S. Billboard album chart."
I'd gladly bear Alison Mosshart's children.
Thanks asia, and you're welcome *winks*

Allison Mosshart images... whoa

The browser here doesn't accomodate videos well so I'll have to listen later.
That Portland, Oregon one is familiar of course. The last line " one more drink and a pitcher to go"...fiction. Never have been able to leave a bar with alcohol in Oregon.
Haven't seen him perform live but I did meet Loretta Lynn and chatted it up with her one day in the way back outside her trailer. I wasn't being creepy. I walked through an area accidentally at a county fair. She called me over and asked me to sit down.
Jack has done some great work with Rock-a-billy Queen Wanda Jackson too, especially but not limited to, Dylan's Thunder On The Mountain. I love that he's made the connection with some of the finest ladies in music.

If you get a chance watch (or at least Google) the movie, It Might Get Loud. And, oh yeah, buy the CD, dude. ;)
Amazingly versatile guy, and I agree, the voice is the best.
Also heard this on the radio today and immediately liked it, including the lyrics. And I love what he did with Loretta Lynn.
aka... awesome/ reminded me I once shook the hand of and chatted with Leo Kottke at a Sunday night free concert LONG ways back. Bet you know Leo.

Scarlett: in the bio is a link to the Jack and Wanda work. Really, he's done so much (for a 36 yr old guy) that I couldn't (felt) put it all in here. Saw clips of the movie too.. like where he made an electric guitar.

Sirenita... yes that voice is, for lack of a better word, suhweet!

Margaret.. how did I know that YOU TOO would like the lyrics? Ha!
No apologies my friend, I just...LOST MY LOVE TO THE DALLAS COWBOYS!! ~WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~

~wanders off stage again~ :D
Tink... Damn those Dallas Cowboys!! Good morning. MEOW
Good morning my friend! It is a good morning tis it not? I wandered in to my email box to find the love of my life, from a previous life, she calls herself now Tiny but back in those days she was known as Princess Candace, she told me she is to be wed but she misses me, Me, or ME, whichever day it is and whatever I feel like.

Good morning indeed, I see the sun rise and the clouds parted and there, among the cold fields of Southern Indiana, a raven spoke to me, it said, "CAA! CAA!" as what else would it say.

Good morning indeed, the electricty is still on, the paws are warm, and the neighbor lady, the one with the giant boobs who likes to practice her yoga in the nude, came over and scritched my belly as I lie on the porch gathering the sun.

"Aren't you a cute kitty!"

"And if you go lower my neighbor, I'll give you a big surprise, right in the face!"

She laughed but did not go lower.

Still, a Good Morning indeed!!

:D
I've grown to be a fan of his over the years. I sing 7 Nation Army with my band and its one of my favorite tunes to perform. It's so big and epic.
Since there is no mention of it, I must hip you to the DVD "It Might Get Loud"

From Netflix:
A profile of three contemporary guitarists: Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, U2's The Edge and Jack White of the White Stripes. Each talks about their creative process, technique and influences as cameras follow them to key locations in their own music history. A jam session featuring all three musicians is woven into their discussions.

If you haven't seen it yet, pop it in the DVD player, sit back, light one up and enjoy! It's fantastic!
Tink.. some people are spoken to by hummingbirds or saucy red cardinals. Me and you get the RAVENS!

Beth Mann- figured you for a fan. I think JW, for seven nation army, replaced the low E string on his guitar with a bass string. Notice how he doesn't stray from the low string, even though it's easier to play otherwise? He's an innovator that way, another of the many reasons I think he's awesome.
Imagining you on vocals... right on

D'Art- yeah I NEEDS to see that movie. Thanks man
I used to hate Jack's voice, but now I'm a big fan of it. I heard this song for the first time yesterday and I love that the lyrics make you sit up and pay attention. Looking forward to the album.

BTW, maybe it's just me, but in that B&W picture of him in the video, the pale skin and stringy black hair makes him look like Michael Jackson.
Can the movie be part of our weekend festivities? Baaaaay-by?
Cranky I hear ya on the Michael Jackson!!! No kidding... ha
And yeah, them are some lyrics that make you take notice and wonder wtf? Maybe wonder just how close the author is to "the edge" which I find, well, ballsy.

asia\- FAB idea!
I just heard "Evil" his collaboration with Tom Jones. I am digging this new stuff from him very much.
