A text this morning from my girl... four words,
"Jack White Love Interruption."
My reply: "song?"
Her: "Gotta listen just heard it on the radio."
Me: "I love Jack White. Will look up."
Her: "Must be new if you haven't heard it."
So I did... google it that is.
It's an early release from his first solo album, "Blunderbuss," due to be out April 24th, 2012. Something to look forward to, as I have in fact always been a huge fan.
The vid above shows lyrics on the screen. Third verse below...
"I want love to
forget that you offended me
or how you have defended me
when everybody tore me down"

Auto-biographical? I'd say yes. Disturbing... cynically haunting. The man writes from gut level, and is an incredibly talented musician who happens to have one of the best male singing voices of this century, IMHO!
The sound on "Love Interruption" is a departure from previous "White Stripes" or "Raconteur" productions... a departure, but instantly recognizable as uniquely Jack White. Yes, I'll be looking forward to the full release in April.
If you've read this far you might be curious enough to explore the links above where you can discover, for example, Jacks' given Christian name, the story of his youth in Detroit and how he met and married Meg White (whose last name he took). Meg, of course, was the other half of the two piece band "the White Stripes" (dissolved just over a year ago).
For quite a matter of time, they were said to be brother and sister, a rumor they reportedly started to "keep the focus on the music."
Jack and Meg as "the White Stripes" punking out their first hit single "Fell in Love With a Girl" on Letterman...
(second verse)
" Red hair with a curl
mellow roll for the flavor
and the eyes were peeping
can't keep away from the girl
these two sides of my brain
need to have a meeting
can't think of anything to do
my left brain knows that
all love is fleeting
she's just looking for something new
and I said it once before
but it bears repeating"
Jack White and Loretta Lynn trading verses and
"
Even with three chart-topping bands on his resume, the prolific White continued to involve himself in a variety of other well-received side projects. In 2005, he produced Loretta Lynn's highly praised comeback album Van Lear Rose, helping the country music legend reach a new generation of fans."
Good stuff!!!
By the way, me and Eli, Tina (his mom) and my brother Jeff saw "the White Stripes" perform live at a small KC venue after the release of "Elephant" in, I believe, 2003.
Rock on Jack... might even actually BUY your upcoming CD.. I swear!

Just as a side note here, I did get to wondering about the lyrics in "Love Interruption" as to whether Charles Manson might have given an assist in writing them.
D-Rat... you're welcome. I'm pretty isolated I guess, media-wise, and wouldn't know about this if it wasn't for the text this morning, so thought I would share for other fans who might equally un-knowing.
Daisy.. agreed with you and designanator that those lyrics are... at the least disturbing. But I like that about him. Reminds me of Lucinda Williams' writing style... somewhat.
SEVEN NATION ARMY..
forget that you offended me
or how you have defended me
when everybody tore me down"
Some deep stuff there!! ~RATED~
~Wanders off in tears~

James, Dylan mix tapes? Not necessarily conducive to romance man!

Jeff, ah the Dead Weather... just listened and will check out more too. Apparently, White is on the drums...
"Meanwhile, Jack White and fellow Raconteur Jack Lawrence were getting ready to launch yet another alt-rock supergroup, The Dead Weather, alongside Alison Mosshart of The Kills and Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age. In contrast to The White Stripes, where White sang lead vocals and played the guitars, in The Dead Weather he played the drums. (Mosshart took over lead vocals duty, while Fertita played lead guitar and Lawrence played bass.) The band was conceived in an informal jam session, but ended up recording two full albums: Horehound (2009) and Sea of Coward (2010). Both debuted in the top ten of the U.S. Billboard album chart."

That Portland, Oregon one is familiar of course. The last line " one more drink and a pitcher to go"...fiction. Never have been able to leave a bar with alcohol in Oregon.
Haven't seen him perform live but I did meet Loretta Lynn and chatted it up with her one day in the way back outside her trailer. I wasn't being creepy. I walked through an area accidentally at a county fair. She called me over and asked me to sit down.
If you get a chance watch (or at least Google) the movie, It Might Get Loud. And, oh yeah, buy the CD, dude. ;)
Scarlett: in the bio is a link to the Jack and Wanda work. Really, he's done so much (for a 36 yr old guy) that I couldn't (felt) put it all in here. Saw clips of the movie too.. like where he made an electric guitar.
Sirenita... yes that voice is, for lack of a better word, suhweet!
Margaret.. how did I know that YOU TOO would like the lyrics? Ha!
~wanders off stage again~ :D
Good morning indeed, I see the sun rise and the clouds parted and there, among the cold fields of Southern Indiana, a raven spoke to me, it said, "CAA! CAA!" as what else would it say.
Good morning indeed, the electricty is still on, the paws are warm, and the neighbor lady, the one with the giant boobs who likes to practice her yoga in the nude, came over and scritched my belly as I lie on the porch gathering the sun.
"Aren't you a cute kitty!"
"And if you go lower my neighbor, I'll give you a big surprise, right in the face!"
She laughed but did not go lower.
Still, a Good Morning indeed!!
:D
From Netflix:
A profile of three contemporary guitarists: Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, U2's The Edge and Jack White of the White Stripes. Each talks about their creative process, technique and influences as cameras follow them to key locations in their own music history. A jam session featuring all three musicians is woven into their discussions.
If you haven't seen it yet, pop it in the DVD player, sit back, light one up and enjoy! It's fantastic!
Beth Mann- figured you for a fan. I think JW, for seven nation army, replaced the low E string on his guitar with a bass string. Notice how he doesn't stray from the low string, even though it's easier to play otherwise? He's an innovator that way, another of the many reasons I think he's awesome.
Imagining you on vocals... right on
D'Art- yeah I NEEDS to see that movie. Thanks man
BTW, maybe it's just me, but in that B&W picture of him in the video, the pale skin and stringy black hair makes him look like Michael Jackson.
And yeah, them are some lyrics that make you take notice and wonder wtf? Maybe wonder just how close the author is to "the edge" which I find, well, ballsy.
asia\- FAB idea!
