Lightning bugs
Collected In a jar, Covered tight
Memories of my childhood
A silvery night

Showers of meteors
Seen from the field where I lay with my lover
Looking up at the stars
Shooting Silver
Dresses wrapped in shimmering ribbon
As Bridesmaids are adorned
On my Wedding Day
With Silver buttons, bangles & bows
Sterling cup, Silver Spoon
Given my first born, an heirloom
from Grandma & Gramps
A keepsake for ever
Silver slippers
My young daughter dons
As she pirouettes across the stage
A ballerina growing up so quickly
Twenty-five years of wedded, not always, bliss
But a monumental accomplishment
Deserving of a precious metal gift
Silver Anniversary
The crown of my head
Turning silver with age
I did not notice it coming
Nor did I feel the change
Gray says “old”
While silver-haired has a distinguished flair
Like the silver-tongued orator
Or the silver-screen pair
Silver is said to be “the mirror of the soul”
Sleek and modern, distinguished and cool
Not warm like gold
Not old

Silver is my choice for this Christmas post
I wish you the warmth of the Silver Star
And the promise of a shining future
Filled with the awe of a child and
Hope of young love
The precious embrace of family
And the dignity of growing old.
Happy Christmas all.
And may your year be filled with silver.

He held a firefly to the page, and read
Ten lines of Homer by the light it shed.
Released, it went upon his shining way -
A wiser firefly? Ah! let sages say. - poem

(It's very silver today)
I recall one hot summer night
we were catching firefly bugs
I swallowed one as it flew
The bug 'hit' my larynx
I coughed, and gulped
I accidently ate a bug.
Thanks Trilogy. (I was in it for the fireflies, too.)
Love,
Kim
And "I got An Art James" thank you sir
Cindy & LunchLady thank you for stopping by my place this evening. Happy Christmas to all.
Thanks Steven, it's all about perspective...I'm working on something now (A Birthday I will have to deal with SOON) that I dodn't want to deal with. perspective, perspective.
"Make new friends but keep the old...one is silver and the other gold." (childhood memory of a song once sung)
I feel like a thousand pound door stop today after all the heavy holiday food, drink and lounging around! Time to move these bones!
Thanks for your lovely tribute and thoughts for a lazy day after...
Wonderful post trilogy.
Thank you too Arthur. I don't usually write poetry but I'm trying to give it a try.
