101 Words: Rage

Rate: 45 Flag

I saw it rear its ugly head,
for just a moment, during our engagement.
Aren’t we always on our best behavior during that cycle of love?
There was an angry rage in his eyes, and voice, but then it was gone.
As quickly as it appeared.
I wondered about it, though.

Maybe it was my fault.
Maybe it was my imagination.
Yea, maybe it was my imagination.
I wondered about it, though.

Years went by.  Rage grew.  I was afraid.
Afraid because these rages made no sense.
They would come out of nowhere,
for no reason,
to no avail.
Then, gone.

Chilling.
Great job w/ the 101!
You capture the frisson of fear and confusion so brilliantly.

Rated.
This is powerful, so powerful. Very well done.
~R~
we have to really study people sometimes
I have done this too
I don't disagree with the first two commenters.
Added rating as I enjoy your poetry as well.
Haunting. Utterly haunting.

"Aren’t we always on our best behavior during that cycle of love?"

Yes. Most people are for sure.

I liked the repetition of the line "I wondered about it, though." It added the feeling of the haunting for me. Excellent work my friend!
Sometimes we get glimmers of what will be and do not recognize it for what it is.
At least..not in time.

Nice job yet again Trilogy. You are just so darned good.
Disturbing images in my mind. Rated.
What an awful way to live...the increasing of rage is terrifying. There is no defense.
"for no reason"...that's the part that makes us afraid. And the look in the eye...excellent.
I really *feel* this piece. Rated.
Amazing how much so few words can say.
Well done.
I'm starting to think that 101 is producing more powerful writing than ten times that amount. This is a perfect example.
Well, it wasn't your imagination, and it wasn't your fault. I'm sure you know that now. 101 words that say so much.
this is so intense...very scary. Much love to you.
Thanks you guys! I love this exercise. It really makes you think and "compact" your thoughts.
Thanks Caroline, Zul & UB
Kathy: problem is when the study comes a little too late.
JP: Nice to make your acquantance. thanks
Sparking: thank you. Wondering...now there was the red flag!!
JD: Again, those red flags. but *blushing* thank you for your kind words.
Shelia & OM: thank you for coming by and commenting.
Sophieh: sounds like you understand. Thanks for your comments.
Susan & Next Please: thank you too for taking the time to read
Cartouche: I totally agree & thank you for your kind words.
"Less is more"?
It is amazing what we can talk ourselves into and then to stay. I'm sorry you had this life. You have described it so well.
test. comments have not been working. comments just stay ... and go nowhere.
stay away from folk who have rage-issues. I you wondered. Mube it was you.
No.

"I wondered about it though."

Hang out with Cotton Tail, Flopsy, and Mopsy rabbits. Make Mr. McGregor some cabbage broth soup, baked bread, current buns, and some hot and good blackberry pie.
Yes, rage is scary, Trilogy... Glad it's all in retrospect now!
So true. Gotta be aware.
You've captured the authenticity of rage, and it is frightening in its realism - the stroke of a gifted writer! ~r!
hope you are safe
this is scary stuff
Rage ~ the kind of anger that comes on like a freight train out of nowhere. I too know that one. I grew up with it. Now avoid it like the plague.

Great creative flexibility with the 101. Thanks.
Never your fault ... never! If only we had the wherewithal to take another path when we first catch sight of such ugliness in another. Very powerful writing Trilogy.
We often know and go through with it anyway. I understand.
I don't understand that behavior, never have. You were right to wonder about. Great writing.
I think rage is the scariest experience to deal with, because it is so irrational. Wonderfully captured.
Ooooh. Definitely unsettling: and exhibiting better control than the subject of these observations!
Rage-aholics are scary. So glad you have moved on.
This was great. I think once the Genie's out of the bottle, you can't get it to go back in. What you first saw was the future!
Can really only echo Zul and others here. I wish you wrote of science fiction that no one had ever known.
Again, I so appreciate your kind words and support. that's what's so great about this OS community.
Deborah: yes, it hurts
LL2: the things we do in life, huh!
Art: Your so sweet. Bet you didn't know that my nickname my whole life had been "Bunnie". Right up there with Flopsy, Mopsy & cottontail.
Julie & Lea: Thankyou for your comments and reading
Kit: thank you for your kind compliment
Dianani: yes, thanks, all safe and sound now.
Scarlett: Yes, once you know it you know to stay away.
LittleKate: I wish that for my kids. and try to steer them away. BUT, as we all know, we're going to make our own decisions in the end.
Dr Spud: thanks for visiting. I know you'd understand.
Smithery: I'm so glad when someone DOESN'T understand that behavior because it's not anywhere in their life. thanks for your comments.
Ladyslipper & AHP: thank you for your comments and taking the time to come over and read. Much appreciated.
Scanner: What I saw first was the future. I like that line. i may use it - thanks Scan.
Sixtycandles: Thanks, friend, you know I've moved on.
anna: (I wish you'd get an avitar with that pretty name) Thanks so much for reading. Science Fiction, I wish it could be too. At least its in the past and not in the future!!
So few word, but they speak so loudly. Your poetry is wonderful.

By the way, you had me with the Calla Lilies... my favorite flowers.
weirdly, I have, as a male, found myself in the same spot. I married anyway, regrettably...

rated for getting it down so tight.

great to read you again. the poetry experiment is going really well. i remember your first.
Thank you Fay. Ah, the Calla Lillies aren't they beautiful!
Charlie: Good to see you here. It's not so weird that you've had the same experience. Thank you for remembering my first poem. Now I am hooked. Thanks for your support.
Rage is one of the most potent and frightening things to witness, and to experience . . . well expressed, trilogy.
Thank you Owl. Sorry so many can relate.
Love when you share the poems!
ditto what cartouche said. icy real.

rated!
Great piece -- and disturbing. I wonder how many people have wondered about the same thing. R
this made the hair on my neck stand up a bit because seeing that first glimmer of rage and not knowing if you imagined it or it was a fluke, or what you might have done to trigger it (NOTHING), is something i wish fewer of us were acquainted with. rated. you rock, tril.
Caroline, Renatta & Natalie: Thanks for your comments.
Gwen: Good to see you here.
Darling Denver: Where have you been? Thanks for your comments. Yes, I too wish I wasn't such an "expert" on this subject.
This could have been written by me although I am no good at poetry. I really "get" you Trilogy. SO excellent. Thanks.
Thanks BrownEyedGirl
Rosy - good to see you back & glad all is ok. Sorry that "it could be you",though.
Great study in human nature and the repercussions. Why do we tend to take the blame on ourselves for another's problems? Your poem painted our human frailty with great insight. R
why do we always think it's our fault? Honesty, could rate this one twice.
Excellent - the truths you express are here are palpable.
They say that people tell us who they really are within minutes or hours of meeting them. It just takes us awhile to actually listen.
rainee: thank you. when will we learn to not take the blame.
and two rita's in a row!!! thank you for your kind comments.
Mary Ellen: you could have told me that 30 years sooner :-}
Thank you mLee: But thankfully, it IS gone for me!
Ah, yes. Those red flags, those red, red flags.
