Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum

Rate: 16 Flag

Friends from Seattle (yes, I know, that's where I live) but regardless, they were in town, so we spent the day sight-seeing and boy, did I need that.

We went to the Desert Museum.

Fascinating place if you are not from the desert southwest.  It was pretty hot (about 95) and mostly outside, lots of walking.  I don’t know why but I found myself  craving cool, clouds and rain (never mind, I think I’ve just had too much sun these past couple of weeks.  It’s done something to my brain.)

I want to share some pictures with you and apologize for not reading and commenting…but I shall be back.  I promise.

Sorry to disappoint - but no pictures of the Babies... you would think that Grandma would have had pictures emailed these past few weeks!! - My daughter has some explaining to do when I get home.  But I will get you up to speed next week.

It's a beautiful time of year to be there- the saguaro blossom crowns open usually around Mother's Day. The desert here can be quite stunning.
Very impressive.
Those colours and the glorious sunshine make me envious after two weeks of steely skies and rain.

Glad you had a good break. I bet you bought cute things for those adorable twins too.
You did well capturing this... the stalagmites look a little provocative, don't they? :)
Great pictures. The Desert Museum should be on the must-see list for anyone visiting Tucson.
Lovely pictures.

Arizona was the first desert I ever visited and it's spectacular. I was shocked to see the deserts in Peru and Egypt - where NOTHING and I mean NOTHING grows.
Beautiful. I am learning to love the desert.
This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful parts of the country. I was there back in '90s and have wanted to go back ever since. The Desert Museum is incredible and you're right - if you're not from that part of the country, the flora and fauna of the Sonoran Desert are fascinatingly different than anywhere else. Great pictures!
Thanks so much, I had a wonderful preview here.
I think the white glare would get to me Fusun after not long...

But the photos show a landscape that is colorful, and makes one draw a deep breath...
the desert is inviting
different perspectives
your written words are calm

Perfect time to tour the desert. I love the AZ desert, it's a far more hospitibal place than the Nevada dsert, more plants, animals, etc.

Beautiful place to be.

There's another place you may be interested in, the Boyce Thompson Arboretum http://www.amwest-travel.com/awt_bthompson.html

Within the arboretum park is an old rock house built against and partially into a canyon wall. The house is called the Clevenger House and is where my wife's stepfather grew up
