I Q&A'd Myself and I Liked It

Rate: 15 Flag

This post is in response to Dorinda Fox’s “Famous OS Writer Interviews”

Nobody wants to interview me, since I’m not a famous OS writer, so I decided to interview myself. You can still interview me, if there is anything you want to know; the deadline is still days away.

What is your favorite post on your own blog? What prompted you to write it? What did you learn from the comments others posted on that blog?

"The Running Shoe". It was for the Lexus Technololgy contest. It was my first post and I was surprised to see myself on the front cover and get an EP. I was prompted to write it because if it were not for running shoes designed for runner's like me, I would not have been able to stick with a running program.

What do you admire about the writing of others on OS? What particular blog would you recommend that others read?

Overall, I admire the diversity. OS seems to embody the true meaning of the Marketplace of Ideas. I would recommend Con Chapman, Wayne Gallant, and Zummalicious to name a few. I can go on, but this post is all about me, me, and me.

What famous non-OS writers influence your writing? Who do you read and what do you like about their writing?

I do not have specific writer, but a collective. I have been greatly warped…err…influenced by National Lampoon and MAD magazine. I read them religiously when I was a kind. I read a lot so it is hard to pinpoint a specific writer.

What one piece of advice would you give to a new writer on OS?

Don’t let the negative comments of other bloggers on your post affect you or your writing. If you do, you are not a writer. I mean think about the authors of the Untied States Constitution. If death by hanging didn’t deter them, why should somebody’s comments hinder your writing? To paraphrase Quincy Jones, “…don’t let them tell you what to think or what to write. If you do, your career will be over by tomorrow night.” He was talking to rapper/actor, Ice-T.

How do you choose what to write about?

Serendipity.

What are your goals as a writer?

As in life, I just want to have fun. Like that song from The Animals, “I’m just a soul whose intentions are good. Oh Lord! Please don’t let me be misunderstood.

I liked your sneakers changed my life post the best. monkey fingered.
Nice honest interview. Good Job! rated
I am still offended that I was left off of your favorite post. Now redeem yourself and go sign up for NCAA OS CHALLENGE !
OK, but who has your favorite Franz Marc painting as her avatar? Me! That's who, thanks for ignoring me. Just kidding. I'll have to interview myself now. You should have gone more in depth, not let yourself off so easily, otherwise I liked it too!
Don't be sad-- no one asked me either :: sniff::
I read and rated your dang avatar post but did not comment, for obvious reasons.
Just pet him and feed him a treat, willya? And then read and rate here, too:

Cheers, you!
I refuse to do an interview, myself. I'm too cowardly to interview myself.

You are a gem, trudge, and a very good friend. Congratulations on an excellent interview.

But it's about your favorite post of your own. Hmmmm....

Here are your questions:

1. Did you steal those pistachios?

2. Where are your credentials?

Bwhahahaha!
hey, i didn't know you could interview yourself!

i've got to say though trudge, you did a good job of it. i really like the bit about national lampoon and mad. they were HUGE influences on me as a kid and probably still affect how i think and write today, but i'd never have thought to include them as literary influences. that's outside-the-boxy thinking in the best way there. in facteverything about this auto-interview is cool.

for the record and even though it probably makes me look shallow, i lloved your FAIL2FOOS post also, am still looking forward to part 2.
rated for i wish i'd thought of interviewing myself dammit.
I liked the quote and the interview ;0)
BBE: Thanks for the support bro.
Brie: Honesty is the best policy. ;) Thanks 4 da comment.
MB: There's always next year, babeeeeee!
latethink: Letting yourself easy is not as easy as it sounds.
Thanks for the support into the wee hours.latethink: Letting yourself easy is not as easy as it sounds.
Thanks for the support into the wee hours.
dharmalbummer: Here is your new mantra: Read, Rate, Comment.
All Trudge. All the time. Repeat 100 times a day. Girl-on-girl action?
Hmmm....
Adding my monkey finger behind BBE's.
Zuma: I'm sorry...did you say something? I was too busy eating pistachos in the grotto with Col. Mustard.
I'm a legend in my own demented mind; I don't need credentials.
nanatehay: Of course you can list National Lampoon and MAD magazines as literary references.
We live in a post-structualist world and anything goes. Actually, those magazines were more post-modern than post-structualist since they greatly relied on parody.
good interview! but what is a tanuki? i could look it up but I'd rather ask
Dorinda Fox: You are once, twice, three times a lady.
Verbal: Thanks for the comments and thumb.
Ariana Paz: You really should look it up, but, since this is all about me, me, and me, I'll give you a quick definition. A tanuki is a real creature that is common to the Far East. It is often mistaken for a dog or a raccoon to the point that some call it a "raccoon dog". In Japanese mythology, a tanuki is a fun-loving, shape-shifter who gets into a series og misadventures. Think: Fred Flintstone with fur.
Thanks for commenting on this post.
This was fascinating!
Great job, Trudge......I agree about not letting negative comments affect you as a writer. You have to believe in your work no matter what and you have to have a thick skin when you post here. Great advice and rated!
OCL: Like man's best friend you always got my back and I got yours.
(Now, can you scratch a little more to the left. lol)

Freaky Troll: TY. ::Gasp:: ::fell off chair:: you have commnented on one my posts that don't mention you. I am honored to the pinkth degree.
