Ten Open Salon Bloggers who have Influenced Me Open Call

Rate: 28 Flag

I usually avoid the low-hanging fruit i.e.: Open Calls, the latest dust-up, the lastest celebrity gossip, someone's take on the latest breaking news, and writing to please the Pow-wahs dat bee. However, every now and then I like to jump into the muck and get my Dockers dirty, but, as those who read my posts know, I have to somehow bastardize things by adding my own twist to the mix.

So instead of doing yet another “Top Ten Books blah-blah-blah” post (BTW, I have been reading some of the posts on this Open Call, and I must say it has been one of the better ones), I decided to do mine on Open Salon bloggers who I read regularly and occasionally, but who never fail to deliver. Also most of these bloggers, like me, avoid the overly ripened, bug-infested, bird-pecked, rat-drool covered, low-hanging fruit and post what they want and when they want to. Except when we're really hungry for attention which is most of the time for me, at least.

So without much further ado, doobie-doobie do, Scooby-do, or yabba-dabba do, I present you with my Ten Open Salon Bloggers who have Influenced Me:

Monte Canfield: Our most revered and very reverend resident Reverend for helping me to better understand the teachings of the Bible and putting them in a modern perspective. Whether you believe, don’t’ believe, or believe in something completely different, you should drop by Monte’s Blog every now and then. If anything you will enjoy some really good quality writing.

Little Willie: Always funny. His out of this world stories are so-down-to-Earth you’d think they were real. Who knows maybe they are?

Caroline Hagood: Whether disseminating verse or deconstructing a film, a book or even fashion, keep an eye out for this young lady because she is going places. Derrida would be proud.

Robin Sneed: A great poet, humorist and observer of the human condition who seems to “get me”! And for looking ultra-chic and glamorous in those rosy-red shades.

Torman: A very funny writer with a heart as big as his ranch. He was the peacemaker when things got a little dicey during the last dust-up.

Tom Cordle: Whether it’s a social commentary, political viewpoint, story, poem or song this truth-seeker has done it all, and continues to do so.

Behind Blue Eyes: The first to comment on my very first blog and who actually knows what a tanuki is (he even told me that he owns (owned?) a couple. BBE, has strong political views which he delivers in a rapid-fire one-two combination of jaw-jarring punches. Maybe we all need a sock on the nose to wake us up from our apathetic, pathetic lethargy.

Xenonlit xl: Funny and not afraid to speak her mind, she too was one of my first true OS buds. One of my favorite male-beans.

Dorinda Fox: Well-read, well-mannered, this gift from academia writes well and she is one hard class-act to follow. Her musings on stand-up comics is both amusing and illuminating.

Leah Lane: Post after post this lady never fails to deliver funny anecdotes of her rather interesting life.

TinkerTink69: All I can say is “read his post.” To know him is to love him in the most platonic sense of the word.

BONUS BLOGGER:

Trudge164: Because it’s all about me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me,and ME!

Disclaimer: (this place is starting to feel like work)

This list is not by all means complete nor written in stone.

This means, like most of these types of lists, they are subject to additions, revisions, submission and re-submissions based on the whim, sense and sensibility of the author. Like the author, it is in a state of flux.

This has been an almost blog-whore free post.

This has been a plagiarized-free post.

Who are yours?*

*Updated: This is now an Open Call.

(ty 4 the suggestion Bellwether Vance!)

Actually, I listed 11 plus the bonus for a dirty dozen. So sue me, I failed math. Besides that's why I have an accountant who will be out of Club Fed in 5 to 10 years. Damn Enron!
Redstocking Grandma, ty 4 da ghost rating.
I agree with them all! I like your take on all this..
Thank you. Your sign-off and copyright are amusing. I will play teacher and congratulate you on your citation skills ;0)
Lunchlady2, I'm always going for the high-reaching fruit. It is my destiny.
Dorinda, you are quite welcomed. I'll bring a nice, bright shiny apple to class next time.
Thank you, Trudge. I much appreciate the recognition because you are one I have come to respect and admire greatly in this eclectic place.

And, I love your sense of humor and witty perspective on life, two qualities too often found wanting in a "gimme, I want mine now" world.

Monte
Monte, I am honored to have earned your respect. As for a sense of humor, that's the one thing they can never take.
I've read most, but will make sure I read the other two. Thanks!
Scanner, I'm glad to have been of service.
You are the fruit of the loom, baby.
Excellent picks! Now you have me thinking about my own OS influences...(Maybe we need another Open Call?)
Cartouche, an all natural fruit.

Bellwether, it is an OC in an indirect way.
Putting this ole country boy in such rareified company is bound to make my head swell but never fear, Mel is here to deflate that head with a swift stroke of her whooping stick.

Seriously....thank you for putting me in such a fine list of talented folks.
Oh my. This was like opening a present! Thanks for the kind words that really mean something. As for the math, I never learned the 14 parts of speech, either.

Your fruit definitely does not hang low...uh...did that come out right?

Rated, of course, because it mentions people who are also my faves who must stay forever!
So did you have to hurt Tink's tender feelings with that "platonic" business? I mean...wait! What? (r)
Torman, You are quite welcomed. And tell Mel (hey that rhymes) you don't need deflating becuase you are a very humble man.

Xenonlit XL, 14 parts of speech? Boy did I ever miss that class. You know you are part of 4-Ever Posse. Ride, Sally, Ride!

LadyMiko, ty.

ClarkK, Tink is an IT geek he has no feelings they were removed during the release of V4.3.2.2.1
I am not familiar with your picks(yet) but rated for the inclusion of you, Trudge.
Fernsy, awwww, now I'm blushing. Thank you. BTW, give them all a read; they are very good.
this list is Ok. Could be better...
Rita, of course it could. There is always room for improvement in all of us. Especially, me!
Who loves me? Trudgeh loves meeeeee!!! And I love you too, dear one...xox
Trudge, you know why, silly, I am not on it !!!
Been there. Read them. Good choices you fruit picker you.
Robin, you know who loves ya, baaaay-beee!

Rita, I know I know why, I just chose not to step into that bear trap, tonight! All in fun, m'lady!
Gabby Abby, I only pick the freshest fruits.
Two tanuki. One on the desk holding pens and one by the door holding umbrellas. You can tell they are refugees from Japan because even their junk is faithfully rendered. Prudish Americans would have left them smoothly neutered. monkey fingered.
BBE, true dat. It's like plastering fig leaves on Greek statues.
I rolled through the Vatican one afternoon to check out the stolen art and winced the whole time. Most of the statues had been defaced with fig leaves added to hide where the the twig n' berries had been knocked off. Yet another crime against humanity perpetuated by priests. And it wasn't like the plaster job on the leaves was even decent. You could tell it was a slapped on quick fix.
Funny how almost all of those are mine too.
I just read old new lefty's book list and dang, he's good.
nice. i like these ones, too! Hey -- how do you do that -- where you highlight a name like that so that it is a hyper link.
Nick was trying to help me out with it. Scarlett, too. Still having trouble.
I must agree. On everything. I'm feeling agreeable I guess!

R
Sorry I'm late to the party. I am deeply honored to make your list, and I wouldn't trade this honor for a dozen EP's -- if I had a dozen EP's that is.
Though most can't gather the impetus behind it– and no slight intended – but it does my heart great service to see I didn't make a list, especially tonight, when the greatest honor I can receive is no notice of my presence in the town of my residence.
Several excellent choices here. And some that I've not read. Oh, the time!!!!!
BBE, I guess they "thought" since they had God on their side they didn't have to worry about "cover'ups".

Old New Lefty, there is nothing odd about that.

Xenonlit XL, I must go off and read him.

Patty, I will send you a PM. It really is not that hard. It's like getting to Carnegie Hall you must practice it.
Natalie K. Munden, I concur.

Tom Cordle, no need to apologize; you were just being fashionably late.

Kevin, I think I understand.

AtHomePilgrim, get thee to a reading chair!
These are excellent choices for all the right reasons. I'm sorry that neither one of me made it into such good company! ;)
Cartouche, thank you. Perhaps in a futue revised submission.
Very late as I don't handle low-hanging fruit.:)

Just kidding, Trudge. I appreciate you appreciating my "rather interesting life" and shall strive to show you it is even more interesting than you think --in both good and bad ways.
"Except when we're really hungry for attention which is most of the time for me, at least."

Yeah, me too. I only post when I'm hungry for attention, or oversexed, or undersexed, and or doing that platonic thing. I love whales and salmon too. Platonics are fun too.

Wait, what?

Seriously though, Ahhhhh, I think you're special too. I would try to do a list myself, but all my lists get banned!! WAAAAAA!!!

TOP TEN HOOKERS FROM JERSEY THAT HAVE INSPIRED ME!!!!

:)
Leah Lane, better late than never. You make striving easy.

Tink, Top Ten Hookers? I bet that post will command the Most Viewed feed forever.
God is in the details, & so's Trudge.
Leon, thank you. I've been compared to a lot of things but never to God. My head swells.
I am honored to be on this post with these very clever and entertaining bloggers. Thanks so much, Trudge. You know how I enjoy my visits to your bloggy.
Caroline, I am honored that you are honored to have been honored on my post which has been an honor to be able to honor you in such a fashion, honestly.
Yo T. Thanks for the shout out.
Little Willie, anytime.
I can't believe you left me off the list, ya rat bastard.
Cap'n, I would have had to dedicate a whole post to you. As the saying goes, "there's always next season". But thanks for stopping by.
