Yesterday, October 15, 2011, about 1,000 Citizens met at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami to protest the blatant lack of representation of the People in our nation's capital by our corporate-owned elected officials.
According to this morning's Miami Herald, the 1,000 Strong gathered at Bayfront Park and marched to the plaza in front of the Miami-Dade Government Center. Surprisingly, the turn out was a lot smaller than I had expected since all week long the Occupy Miami Facebook page had been swelling up. By Saturday night, the page had over 9,600 Likes.
When the march started the citizens were ordered by the police to stay off the streets, they obliged by walking on the sidewalks. The peaceful demonstrators, changed their chant from "Whose streets? Our streets!' to "... sidewalks".
Overall, the police and the citizens did their best to respect each other. If there were any violent demonstrations or police "enforcement", it was not reported in the Herald's article. By 10:00 p.m. the demonstrators dwindled down to about 100 citizens who were planning on staying until their voices have been heard.
Here is the Miami Herald story with photos and video: occupy miami
If you don't read the article at least check out the video embedded in the story. At one point the video shows the Occupy Miami citizens marching past a bus stop bench. Sitting on the bench are what appears to be two homeless guys. The ad on the bench reads "Bad Credit?" Word!

HUGGGGGGGGG
Thanks for keeping the word up about the occupation protests. I'm going downtown in a couple of hours. Sacramento was going to end it today, but has decided to continue for a bit longer.
Personally I hope this occupation movement continues throughout this coming year ; it's also encouraging to watch it sprouting up in other countries. Perhaps, just perhaps, folks in 'high places' are noticing, and at least beginning to think about what they're seeing..
Rated for timely.
