Bio
Twenty Three Things About Me-A Facebook Query 1. I hate to write down my thoughts for fear that someone will read them. 2. I have come to feel (in the last couple of days especially), that women of any color are the new ignored minority. 3. I believe that all the people I have ever met are connected in some way that cannot be explained but merely experienced. 4. I'm a great cook. 5. I love to sleep. I need at least 9 hours a night, and I hate to wake up to an alarm clock. 6. I loitered at USC in the early 90s, and never attended classes. 7. I married my old lover's college roommate. I can't help it he was living with the love of my life! 8. I could eat chips and salsa every day. 9. I play Scrabble with a woman named Sadie. She's 100 this year. 10. I have 2 dogs and a cat named Jade-- all are rescues. 11. NYC is my 3rd favorite city in the world (I haven't traveled that much). L.A. is #1, and London is #2. 12. I love to karaoke. 13. I learned to play guitar when I was 28. 14. I lie about my age. 15. I created a company strictly because I didn't want to work for anyone. 16. My favorite word is reconnoiter...even though I can't spell it without the "checker" 17. Mangos and Pomegranates are my favorite fruit. 18. My favorite movie of all time is Shawshank Redemption... sorry Star Wars. 19. My character has been portrayed in a sci-fi romance flick called Free Enterprise. 20. I was Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz...my 4th grade play. 21. My favorite sweet treat are caramel apples, even though the fall weather associated with them is my least favorite season even over winter. 22. I relate to the quote,"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure". And I wonder how anyone can be so acutely aware of the human condition. 23. The greatest lesson I've learned-- for all of my faults and imperfections, I would never want to change places with other's lives. Every time I think some one's is better, something comes to the surface that makes me grateful I have mine.

New New New

At the end of March 2011 I got into a horrible car accident.  I've written a post before about a horrible car crash that changed my whole life and world.  I sometimes, in my case, think this is the Universe telling me to "strap in" because things are about to change… Read full post »

You Don't Fool Me Michael Kors!

Dare I say that I DO NOT understand Michael Kors as a designer or a brand?  Can I go one step further and state that I think if designers, magazine editors and the fashion industry promote Michael Kors, and give the brand acknowledgement as high end design, they are basically killing… Read full post »

A Letter to Cesar

Dear Cesar,

I just saw your 100th episode on the National Geographic Channel and I had to write to you.  I enjoyed seeing the gathered group of all the dogs and people that you’ve helped. I really liked the inset commentary from famous friends likes Kathy Griffin and Virginia Madsen. Read full post »

How to Buy an H.D.T.V.

For a few years now, we have had a 400 pound, electricity sucking, flittering picture having, LCD, giant cube shaped Television in our bedroom.  This Jurassic technology has been hanging out collecting dust (because it sits too high on our dresser to dust properly), and is tolerated by both my h/… Read full post »

A Life Changer

“Holy Shit” I belted out suddenly as the side glass of my car door window cracked, shattered, and spilled into my lap.  At the same time glass is falling all over me, I realized in the flash of a moment that I was moving in the opposite direction of the oneRead full post »

Getting the Good Citizen

The thing about my experience with dog training has been a good one.  I know that there are lots of folks out there that feel like nothing works with their dogs. I am grateful to say that although I have had my share of problems with my dog, and her separation/… Read full post »

A Birthday Wish

Oh my God this hill is so steep!  My ass is burning!    This is the morning conversation I’m having with myself as I walk up to meet my friend for an early hike… I look up the block and see morning walkers, hikers, and runners, and all of them seemed toRead full post »

Sometimes a Fish Isn't a Fish

I’ve always felt like a fish out of water.  In fact, I have been known to relate my experiences with fish references such as “I felt like a Perch on a hook” or “I felt like a fish out of water” or “I was swimming up stream the whole time.”  I

Curses

I'm new here to Open Salon.  I've just found this community, and blogging is very new.  My first post here is a piece that I wrote for a class.  I don't consider myself a formal writer, but I aspire.  Here in my Bio, I say that don't write things down… Read full post »

I live in Los Angeles.  L.A. is a big city with lots of different scenery and different cultures.  People come from all over to live and attempt to thrive here in the city.  With so many of us crossing paths each day, there is sometimes clashing.  You hear horns in… Read full post »

The Dork I Married

The last time I had dark hair, I was standing at the alter in the Van Nuys County Court House getting married.  I still remember standing there, my about to be husband, reading from a page the judge turns to when marrying people he’s never met.  My man looked at me… Read full post »
