I'm tired of being serious and talking about politics and all that STUFF. So I decided to post some pics from my recent trip to Albuquerque to see my sister. I love this one - there's me in the middle of a bunch of my nieces and grand-nieces (and that's not even all of them, some of them missed the picture somehow. It was a fun, fun night - a big party in honor of my sister and brother-in-law's wedding anniversary. Serious fun was had by all.
Then it was off to the mountains to give my new camera a serious workout. My God, it's beautiful up there!
Seriously, wouldn't you like to just step into this photograph?
Majestic!
wow
My niece took this one. Magical.
I think it's called Battleship Rock.
I know, I know. It's like being forced to view my vacation slides, so I'll stop. But, you have to admit, aren't these photos more enjoyable than another foaming-at-the-mouth political blog? I thought so, too!
Thank you for your forebearance. I'm forever in your debt. Okay, maybe not forever, but for a few days, anyway. Feel free to oooh and ahhh over the pictures. I can take it. Really.

By the way, you have one pretty family!
My guess would be that most are tired of health care reform debate by now. I KNOW I am. Still it is important and a civic duty. what can you do?
Thanks for the break!

latethink - Ah yes, it's good to be the blog whore! I'm an absolute freak about capturing the moment in pictures. My laptop groans under the strain of all the photos I dump on it on a regular basis. I forgot to enjoy life for a while - I'm learning to again. :-)
Ah Michael, my fellow amateur photographer! Thank you (fine eye) and thank you (pretty smile.) Rest assured, I won't be able to stop myself from slipping in a few more pictures here and there. You should have seen me agonizing over which ones to put in this blog. How about this one? Or that gorgeous one? OMG I can't make up my mind! It was torture, I tell you, pure torture!
Winda - Not to worry. I'm saving up for one big margarita bash when you and I can get together and drink one margarita after another while we talk non-stop about any and every thing!
PS There are also no pics of chili rellenos, but you can be sure that ABQ was relieved of many a fine relleno while I was there. :-)
Ken - Yes, ABQ is one of my favorite places ever! You MUST go there. And while you're there, get thee to Santa Fe, too.
Sheila - Oh, Shiprock. Okay I knew it was something to do with ships. It's beautiful by any name. What a gorgeous place. We must meet in ABQ one of these days!
Surly - Hey.... I was just thinking.... you know the Balloon Festival is coming up in October in ABQ.... road trip...
Kathy - thanks! Mine too.
Ralph - thanks! Yes my vacation persona is a lot more fun, don't ya think? That's it! I need more vacation! You're a genius!
I spent a fair of time in the New Mexico desert in the early '70s, at White Sands Missile Base, and fell in love with the territory. My last visit to Albuquerque was a two-day stop in 1984 to visit friends, while moving to Tucson.
Gawd! I LOVE the Southwest, with its wide open spaces, mountains, and excellent weather.
It may even be nicer than Western Canada, eh?
You are so right about taking a break from writing about the ills of the world; it's important that we all lean back, take a deep breath, and drink in the beauteous wonders that surround us.
I know you're going to smack me over the head with a cast iron frying pan for this, but I gotta ask: Where are the menfolk in your family?
As for you smile, well... I must concur with Michael's assessment -- but your eyes caught my attention before that. Let me say that you photograph quite well.
Cathy - thank you! :-)
GJI - Oh, please, please do. I would LOVE to see photos of Africa - I want to go on a photographic safari there in the worst way.
France, huh? I think Kirsty has snagged herself a prize.
Rufus - White Sands, huh? New Mexico really is a magical place, isn't it?
As for the menfolk in my family? Why, we eat them, of course, like praying mantis females do during sex - biting their heads off (literally) once the sex act has begun. That's why we can't put them in any pictures. No one wants to see a bunch of headless men.
Thank you for your lovely compliments and don't worry - I promise not to bite your head off.
In fact, I think if female mantis (how do make 'mantis' plural? Anyway...) if the female mantis had access to hormones, they might leave the heads of their menfolk intact, too. It's a thought.
Deborah - I know - me too! Let's all move there and drink margaritas all day! :-)
