Having read some astoundingly good contributions to Fiction Friday, I am compelled to (hopefully) direct some of you to those fine pieces of writing. You won't be disappointed by a single one of them - they are all THAT GOOD, truly worthy of your time. I read these postings throughout the day, and as I am well into the next day, I truly hope I haven't forgotten any of them. To the best of my recollection, here is a list of the stories that swept me away. Enjoy!
Eighth Grade Existentialism by CarolinaBlue50
A Stain on the Carpet by GJI Penguin
Now, go read - you can thank me later.
Whoa, whoa, whoa....not so fast there. You know I love a good story and it just so happens I have another little jewel to share with you all. Here's the link to the first chapter (don't be scared away when I say chapter - they're short but stunning). Don't stop at the first one, keep reading - there are three of them; and the third one is delicious (no skipping ahead allowed - and don't miss the song in Ch. 3)I know, I can be a tad bossy. Sorry - I'm a first born, it's in my nature.
Claire in Paris by Femme Forte (Chapter One)
Okay, now go.

R~
I am honored that you included my entry in your recommendation.
-R- for promoting Fiction Friday!
This seems to be contagious.
The free writing is better than most of the stuff you pay for.
The voluntary editors -- especially the voluntary Editor's Picks -- are better than the ones picked by Salon.
I'm lumping you with that person that is challenged regarding cat care and feeding and, ok, my minimalist effort along the same lines.
It makes sense, when you think about it. Salon isn't making that much money. They couldn't hire people this good, since they can't afford them.

great that you're doing this, in general, by the way. as a newbie, i need all the arrows pointing to stuff i shouldn't miss as i can get. going to read ...
Debbs4 - Absolutely. And the other ones, too. Not a slacker in the bunch.
Nick - I totally agree. No more hand-wringing over EPs and Front Page coverage - who needs 'em? I think everyone is entitled to my opinion (and yours and Cat's) so what do we need those stinkin' editors for? There are so many fine writers on this site, it just blows my mind.
jimmymac - Eclectic - that's me. Eclectic taste in literature, music, just about everything. Actually this little part of the cyber library just opened this morning. It was a brain-storm - came up fast and furious, so I had to get the hammer and nails out and do a little quick remodeling. Turned out quite nice, I think.
Hey, thanks for coming by!
David - You're so welcome. Yes, Kirsty, Penguin and CarolinaBlue are quite the storytellers, as are you, my friend. As are you.
Aftershock - you're very welcome. :-)
Thanks, Skel. :-)
You're wecome, Penguin! Thanks for writing it.
Everyone, please make note that I have updated your weekend reading list, adding a delightful 3 part series by Femme Forte. And Oh my, it is soooo worth it.
I'll be back to check in on all of you later. Happy reading.

Thoth - That's very sweet of you to say. Thank you!
Poet - That's wonderful to know. I'll be sure to add you to my list of writers to check out next week - how exciting! Oh, and we have Torman to thank for this initiative. He's the one who raised the banner. I'm just waving it. And looking forward to your post next Friday.
Ablonde - Cool - the more the merrier. I actually did check out Steven Axelrod just a couple of days ago at Nick Carraway's suggestion. You're right - he's very good.
Thank you for being selfless and helping fellow writers out.
Hey, can anyone get in on Fiction Friday?
And thanks for the kudos.
