Sometimes I don't have anything profound to cough up. But I saw this and thought you might like it. Magical and hilarious. We thought we were cool.

CLASSIC!!!!!! I was in love with Martha Quinn!!!!!
(rated)
My favorite video: Workin' For a Living, Huey Lewis (and the News)
Greg, she was a cutie. But I did really like Adam (is that his name?)
Yeah, Adam, ummmm, SHIT, brb.
Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter (the keyboard player from Journey's twin brother), J.J. Jackson, Martha Quinn, Nina Blackwood.
The original VJ's.
I had to Google it. Their stock still went down. ;-)
Yeah "Workin' For A Livin'" and "I Want A New Drug" were both classics. They were MADE for MTV.
"NOW they think to bring the umbrellas!"

That was hy-friggin-sterical!

The Man is gonna love this!

(thumbified with a lighter held high)
This is eerie. My love and I WERE JUST talking about watching MTV in 1981 when it first came out. First time I heard Squeeeze, Peter Gabriel, Steve Winwood, and I still love them. The videos for Shock the Monkey and Black Coffee in Bed. Fuckin' classic.
Fantastic! Thanks for posting. Did y'all know that Adam Curry helped develop podcasts? I heard him a few years back when they were just getting big. He was on my local NPR station explaining what podcasts were.
Hilarious!
My only, focused goal from age seventeen to ninteen was to marry Axl. I lurved him.
That was a scream. Just fucking genius.

Martha used to call herself "Mean Martha Quinn". It was really adorable. Then she made Sprite commercials.
Fan fuckingtastik!!!
Yes, Adam Curry. That was him, with his gorgeous blond mane.

Lynne, funny, I told my then boyfriend, now husband that if Huey Lewis were to come around, our engagement was off. Luckily for me, it never happened.

Lorraine, I remember 1981 like it was yesterday, with the TV on as much as we could watch.
I watched the video and was gratified to realize that I'd never actually seen it back in the day. I couldn't stand the song so I never watched the video. Welcome To The Jungle, now, THAT was a kick-ass video.
Is it true that Martha was Anthony Quinn's granddaughter, or was that rumor?
Okey dokey.....well, there's 40 minutes I'll never see again. But it was so freakin' funny!!!
Life changed from about 81 to around 92 or so. Then MTV just failed to be "M"TV and just became TV. I don't know why they don't just change their fucking name to Real World TV now...
Greg, no clue. According to her wiki page, she's a step daughter of Jane Bryant Quinn, the personal finance advisor. But who knows how true that is.
I loved MTV! It's a shame that they don't play videos like they used to. I loved the scenes with those two guys trying to analyze the video. We used to do that all the time, as if the videos really made sense. Thanks for the fun memories.
That was mucho awesome.
Holy crap, that was funny. I loved Nina Blackwood...but Martha was a cutie!

Ok, here's a trivia question...I've been trying to track down a video for years...it ENDS with four people jumping out of big directors chairs. Any thoughts?
I so always wanted Nina Blackwood hair.
Remember Duff? Saw her on the street once looking like she did not want to be recognized...I remember wondering why anyone but a geek like myself would STILL have recognized her (only a few years ago)...she hasn't done anything, has she?

Anyhoo...
darkside, I think it was She Sheila by The Producers?
Oh lordy, flashbacks! Video killed the radio star ...
