This is funny in that very sad way. I hear ya, buddy.
I have the same dream and the same problem. I think I'm just going to steal a motorcycle, though. I haven't told my therapist yet, but only because I'm eying her bike.
travelocity makes me sad ... so i know how you feel
So what about cruising down the west coast in a Nissan 350z? I'm certain I could convince my fiance to let us go (as long as we didn't tell her that we would be gone long)
I just came from the Harley store and I did get approved on a bike I can probably make monthly payments on.

As for that whole West coast thing... that will probably have to wait.
can you rent a motorcycle for a week and go somewhere?
I've driven down the west coast...well worth it.

Hillarious, yet sadly relative.
You could get one of those slot-track sets and put up pictures of scenes from the California coast around the border of it.

It also helps if you go "Vroom vroom".
Tru dat, Vac. People buy motorcycles and think they're done spening. Ha! It's just starting.

Come on out. I know a guy who has some spare bikes. I'll bet he's loan you one for a small donation.
Thanks, all, for your emotional solidarity. I did manage to get a bike, so I'll be on the road somewhere this season - just probably not down the West coast. I'm completely jealous of Cap'n on that note.

Epyoch, I want to make it down there this summer to meet your new fiance, even if I can't make it down on the Harley.

Shaggy, it might be bad karma to steal from your therapist, but that possibly depends on the quality of your sessions.
Sad. Funny. True. I want to travel cross-country in an RV. The rental fee alone is ridiculous- not including little things of no importance like gas and food.
Motorcycles are their own form of therapy.

If you find yourself in the DC area and you want to blow off steam by blasting through the twisties (especially out near Shenandoah), I'm recently unemployed and have tons of free time on my hands now :-D
