Doubt

Rate: 12 Flag

A ghost in my world.

I can not see it.

It follows me.

Each day I feel it.

It creeps slowly

filling empty corners,

seeping deeply

into dusty cracks,

coloring difficult decisions;

a plague on my heart.

If I could escape this shadow

find sunlight,

dance with joy,

build alters of happiness

and beauty everywhere -

what then?

Before I could celebrate,

before I plant a garden

flowering with strength and beauty,

showered with love,

would Doubt return

and bring Fear along with it?

I was once told that fear is an acrostic for "false evidence appearing real." If that is so, doubt would be it's firstborn child. May the right ghostbusters cross your path so that the dancing can resume. XOXO dear sister.
To answer your question, only if you let it....
Hey there, you gorgeous, gorgeous Georgia Peach.

Life is only as rude and tough as you let it be. Screw doubt, fear, uncertainty. Screw those who make you feel these absurd notions. Awake every Sunday morning and every morning in between, to bask in life's glorious sunshine.

Your azure eyes have the right to see the brightness of life.
Elena,
My dear sweet amazing friend I am so thankful for your encouragement...you know you'll have to teach me how to dance :)
Cartouche,
I would love to have your strenth and confidence.
Bob - where've you been all my life?
"If I could escape this shadow

and beauty everywhere -

what then?"

Doubt and fear are part of our nature (part of all animal´s nature, I guess); and we enjoy dance, altars and sunshine because we have what to compare them with: the next bit - or lot - of doubt and fear. So, I try to manage one fear and doubt at a time, and enjoy the happy moments in between. Not that I am always successful, but I try to do that...
Excellent poem, thanks.
Kisses,
Marcela
Ah, chica, deep breath - step into the sun for awhile. . .
WAH, we seem to have a lot of the same emotions. Recently I have adopted a new mantra, "Eyes Ahead, Don't Look Down".
There are so few things sometimes of which I am certain but it is those things to which I must look. Doubt and fear always try to return but I cannot live without, as you so beautifully say, "a garden flowering with strength and beauty, showered with love".
You have a wonderful gift.
Oh, doubt is good and fear is essential. The key is never to doubt yourself. With notions/lines like these, I would not.

Wonderful poem.

Doubt is ubiquitous. Plant the garden anyway.
Doubt and fear are strong words. So are conquer and victory.
Love you, sweetie.
I have that ghost too. It may never find it's final resting spot outside my world, but I have found that if you ignore it for a while and take pride in what you CAN do/who you have made a difference to/that you deserve "good"/etc., it quiets down.

Peace,
Owl - maybe y0u, Marcel, Outside, Spotted, and I could take a breath and step out together?

Steve - you are so always so encouraging to me - thank you...I never say that enough.

Thoth - I'll keep trying to hold my goddess head up high.

Life Is Good - You've given me a wonderous compliment...thank you so very, very much.
That sounds like an invitation. Coming out to CA any time soon?
You know I'd love to! Elena and I were just talking about how wonderful that would be Saturday afternoon during our weekend chat.
I'd be honored . . .
My beautiful Peach.

If doubt does return and brings fear with it, jsut tell them there's a new sheriff in town and he'll kick ass and not bother to take names. Just tell them, "Tigger is here, and he's bringin hell with him" :-)
"would Doubt return

and bring Fear along with it?"

I think it is your writing and your reading? that keeps this at bay and perhaps controls it..?

thank you for this post.

Amazing poem. That same doubt plagues me too. Thanks for this
