Lovely Grief

Rate: 12 Flag

It's a lonely sigh

of  fragile beauty.

A single heartbeat between us,

the trace of a tender touch.

It's a gentle caress,

a passionate embrace;

breath, warm on my skin.

It's the deepest dream,

the wonder of  you -

time and place unbound.

It's the part of you

that is mine alone.

The fantasy I keep,

a song in my soul.

The lovely grief

of loveliest desire.

Sometimes lovely desire can certainly lead to lovely grief.....
Desire can do that. It can twist your heart around in your chest, drive you insane, wishing to reach out, somehow, somehow to quench the flames.

This is beautiful Peach. I enjoy your poetry immensely
It can, Patricia, it can...
Bob, thank you...
I understand what you mean very well. It's not really fair, is it?
Unfair? Yes I suppose it surely is, but sometimes that's all we mortals get out of life..
Wow !!! I'm in LOVE !! : )
JD!
Aren't you sweet!
Simple beautiful ... I loved it..
"It's the deepest dream,
the wonder of you "

I will dream of this - thank you for this :) You all are so lucky!

peece,
dj
Fireeyes, thank you so very much.

DJ - I'm touched that anything I've done can bring you happiness.
It has always intrigued me that desire and grief can be so intermingled - but they surely are. Beautifully done, WAH.
Oh Owl, me too!
I don't understand how it works that way.....
WalkAwayHappy,

"lovely grief," is a very clever phrase, you should own it. Although in this context, grief has nothing to do with desire. The poet is saying that she enjoys THAT grief. Without the lost joys of love she would not have experienced that lovely grief. This grief is probably the most cherished by any one who lost love. God, I am good.

Now you're talking WalkAwayHappy, great poem, original meaning.

Rated.
Oh Thoth, Thoth, Thoth.....I grieve for many things lost and longed for, among them love is the most painful of all.
There is also "good grief". Just ask Charlie Brown. Or me. Lovely poem.
I can identify, WAH. Beautiful poem.
Beautifully done, WAH. Much enjoyed.
"It's the deepest dream,
the wonder of you..."
Oh, WAH, I have that deepest dream...and he is, as you write...
"...a song in my soul."

Thank you for expressing what is also in my heart.
Wow! What a song of love. Great. cy
"The fantasy I keep, a song in my soul.
The lovely grief of loveliest desire."
