Afterward,

I waited for my breath to return,

waited for the sun to shine once again.

I listened for your voice;

silence filled the pathways

and the hallways where you'd walked.

Afterward,

I wept in the emptiness

that once was the bed

where we'd slept, where we'd loved.

Afterward,

the clouds parted

the sun broke through.

I sang and I danced

in the pathways and the hallways

where you'd walked.

I gathered lavender and jasmine

for the bed where I dreamed.

Afterward,

I took a deep breath

and moved

forward.

Incredible emotion. Just simply incredible.
"I gathered lavender and jasmine

for the bed where I dreamed."

Evocative.
The mastery here is you combining romance with simplicity and straightforwardness. One thing for sure; it sucks to be him.

Rated for romantic mastery.
Ah, yes . . . the moving forward. Beautiful and intense.
Lovely...like being rocked...xox
Lavender and jasmine are as good for the soul as your beautiful words. Differently, they can fill a heart with love.
Yes. And walking away happy.
Thanks. WalkingAwayHappy.
Beautifully expressed!
"Why?" is never answered
tender feelings fade
words have fallen dead
the choice to be made
wake from the nightmare
find freedom in the day
walk away happy
or simply walk away
Tom, that was wonderful. I think I choose walking away happy.
Thank you all so much. Your kindness means a great deal to me.
Jaw-dropping beautiful! I love this.

Oh, and nice to meet a fellow fan of Phantom (The Movie)!
