When it comes to responding to an insult or injury, it seems to me that you have two choices. You can piss and moan, or you can roll up your sleeves, put your ass on the line and DO SOMETHING about it.
In a recent post, OS readers were asked to join in a campaign to address their expressions of disappointment, disapproval, and disgust with George W. Bush and his administration to a P.O. box where they would be collected and published on a website. The author of the post admits that "This is about having the opportunity to vent publicly (or privately) and get those demons out of your system." This was put forward as a method of redressing the mistakes and the criminal acts of the previous eight years of the Bush-Cheney administration. One comment even spoke of it as a vehicle for "accountablity and justice."
I see it as no such thing. It is simply an excercise in vengence or, equally unworthy, a catharsis of venting. It will accomplish nothing except to make the participants feel better. It reminds me of an old saying, "You can't fight City Hall, but you can piss on the front doorstep."
If that's what floats your boat, go right ahead, but don't delude yourself that your action will have any effect on Dubya, Darth Cheney, or any of the other criminals who perpetrated the acts you are denouncing. They will ignore you, just as they have done since they stole your votes in the election of 2000 (and again in 2004).
But if a pro-active stance is more to your liking, may I suggest that you direct your energy towards a resolution which WOULD get their attention, namely IMPEACHMENT.

There are several websites where you can sign petitions calling for impeaching both Bush and Cheney, and others wherein you can send letters, faxes, or emails to your elected representatives, calling upon them to support criminal proceedings against the unholy duo.
You can print out flyers, forms for gathering sugnatures of others who support these ideas, and you can copy templates of emails to send to your friends in support of bringing these criminals to justice.
The choice is yours, you can rant and vent, and feel better inside, or you can have the balls to step up to your civic duty to see that justice is not only spoken of, but carried out.
Here are some links to prominent websites addressing Impeachment:

I've signed every damn petition there is to impeach the bastards, knowing full well nothing's gonna happen. I guess venting might be the next best thing (I haven't seen the post you mention). I have been directing some positive energy toward sending the Obama mamas e-mails (at last count, 9) regarding policy initiatives and the like, knowing full well nothing's gonna happen :-).
So we beat on, boats against the current.... Now, if that was Walt Whitman, that would be a masturbatory image, but just because it's Scott Fitzgerald, it's supposed to be....what?

Will you appoint a Special Prosecutor - ideally Patrick Fitzgerald - to independently investigate the gravest crimes of the Bush Administration, including torture and warrantless wiretapping?
So, you never know.
Also, Blog whore addendum: You can see my complete analysis of all the new questions, including the big ones they ignored here.
We must impeach to preserve the rule of law for our children's sake. So many illegal acts. Such terrible ones. We MUST impeach.
I believe we can do both.
I have already got my name on petitions to Impeach The Emperor and Darth.
Well said.

I agree with Wayne.
I agree with Cartouche.
I am going to run for office.
Vote for me.
Clearly, I'm on your side.
I felt several years ago, that Congress should have brought impeachment charges up against President Bush & Vice President Cheney… but ‘for the good of the country’ some said, they were not.
I’m with you and thanks for posting this for OS to comment on…
The utter lack of support for such an idea in the real world (which in this instance happily includes Obama) is primarily because it's silly.
Why not wait for Bush to die; then you could impeach him posthumously?
Try the fuckers. Too late for impeachment, of course.
cartouche (and others) - of course we can do both. each has its merit.
GordonO, you are sadly out of touch with reality. As a visit to some of the sites I listed above will inform you, there is, and has been widespread support for impeachment.
