Bio
I am six feet two inches of rippling muscle, wavy blond hair, sparkling wit and two-fisted defense of Family Values and the American way of life. (I did say that I write fantasy fiction, didn't I?) Addendum for the benefit of the humorless and/or brain-dead - The above was meant to be satirical. The parenthetical (that's the part between the curved vertical lines) should have alerted you to that intent.

On Writing - DL Hughley interviews Frank Schaeffer

Since CNN cancelled DL Hughley Breaks the News, I thought this interview with "former Republican" Frank Schaeffer might be of interest. While not a "writing lesson", as the previous videos were, I suspect that it may contain some wisdom which you could impart to your pages.

DL Hughley with Frank Schaeffer Time 8:15
"The public image of the leaders of the religious right I met with so many times also contrasted with who they really were. In public, they maintained an image that was usually quite smooth. In private, they ranged from unreconstructed bigot reactionaries like Jerry Falwell, to Dr. Dobson, the most power-hungry and ambitious person I have ever met, to Billy Graham, a very weird man indeed who lived an oddly sheltered life in a celebrity/ministry cocoon, to Pat Robertson, who would have had a hard time finding work in any job where hearing voices is not a requirement."

BTW, on HuffPo, Deepak Chopra tears into Rush Limbaugh as an anti-moralist.

You know you have settled to the bottom of the barrel when Deepak Chopra feels impelled to offer a public slapdown.
Good link. Schaefer certainly knows how to give a strong anti-Republican rallying cry.

Too bad Hughley go canceled. I liked his show the few times I watched it.
Too bad the news will no longer be broken down in Hughley's unique fashion. While I never followed the show religiously, I suspect the entertainment news spinoff was conceived as a companion piece to Obama's rise to power. After all, black voices have been in huge demand, of late. In addition to an awkward time slot, Hughley was often raw with truth and that truth likely clashed with advertisers, leaving the CNN brass with cold, revenue-threatened feet.
Wow, Wayne that was powerful stuff. Schaefer sure has the right wing figured out. The quote under the video is brilliant!
Well. I guess I can see why he was canceled. That was fabulous. Thanks.
Too often, the aggressively pious are the most detached from reality and the most dangerous.
"We put all this crap in place." Very interesting interview. Thanks for posting.
What is most troubling about so much of the Religious Right's posturing is not even the hypocrisy, it's the motivation for it. They seem to actually believe they can fool God into believing they are deserving of a McMansion and a Mercedes in Heaven.

And these clowns peddling this crap are even worse than the other hucksters peddling other brands of multi-level-marketing. Next thing you know, Vince the Sham-Wow guy will be peddling Jesus.
A passionate and clarion voice.
