- Bio
- I was born in Iowa. After living in Virginia, New York, and New Jersey, I now call South Florida my home. I live with my wife and my golden retriever, Bailey. I work as a technical writer for a software company. I write non-fiction, fiction, and poetry. I like to go places and have fun - spend the day at the beach - take my dog to the park - and look at the sky at night. I avoid tourist traps and nasty people.

So when I first heard about Chick-fil-A Day, I was already a little behind the curve. I just hadn't been paying attention. After scanning a couple of internet news reports I discovered that The Day was all about a protest. Dan Cathy, President of Chick-fil-A, and no closet Evangelical Christian, had… Read full post »
Thoughts on: The Painter of Light, Thomas Kinkade
We were eating dinner on the patio one day last week – my wife and I, along with family from up north who were in town for the week. We were all enjoying a beautiful South Florida evening when someone got a tweet, or an email, or some other type of… Read full post »
Thoughts on: When pilots go mad
I am not a frequent flier, not even close. But I do fly at least a half a dozen times a year, to which I will say that some flights are – well – better than others. There is always the inevitable airport security fiasco, and often there are weather delays,… Read full post »
May 21, 2011 - Is it the end?
I must admit, this one almost slipped past me – I am talking about the May 21, 2011 doomsday thing. A couple of months back, I found a flier stuffed into my screen door proclaiming some nonsense about the world ending on May 21. I trashed it, and… Read full post »
Travelling with the Mad Palm
In the fall of 1987, I stopped at a Giant’s Supermarket on Belair Road, in Baltimore, Maryland. I was on my way home from my job in suburban Washington, D.C. I don’t remember any of the items on my shopping list, but I do recall that just inside the door of… Read full post »
Thoughts on Osama Bin Laden
For many years, I have thought that Osama Bin Laden was dead. It was common knowledge that he was in poor health and he was living in a very remote part of the world (like in a cave). For this reason, I thought that he was probably dead. After all, didn… Read full post »
