As Carbonite is a friend and major sponsor of The Rush Limbaugh Show, I have discontinued my use of their product as long as they advertise on his show. Fortunately for me and other Carbonite users/potential users, there are more highly-rated and less expensive alternatives to the Carbonite online backup program. Rush Limbaugh has repeatedly defamed Georgetown University law student, Sandra Fluke, calling her “a slut” and “a prostitute” after Congressional Republicans denied her the right to testify in a recent hearing on Capitol Hill. Committee Democrats had invited Fluke to speak alongside an all-male panel on the subject of contraception.
Limbaugh even suggested to Sandra Fluke that she might be allowed the use of birth control on the condition that she post sex videos of herself online for him to enjoy. In good conscience, I cannot contribute to the success of The Rush Limbaugh Show by patronizing any of his sponsors, including Carbonite, no matter how much I might like their product.
Congressional republicans are intimidated by Rush Limbaugh and fear backlash if they speak out against his sexist rants and demeaning commentary on women. But consumers CAN speak out by refusing to patronize his sponsors, and apparently they have been doing so on the Carbonite Facebook Page, which the company has recently deleted.
Perhaps Carbonite CEO, David Friend is also intimidated by the sexist Limbaugh and has made a statement that he plans merely to meet with Limbaugh and “impress upon him that his comments were offensive.” I’d like to impress upon David Friend that this is NOT sufficient and I’m calling for a boycott of his product.
