My Breasts are Not Boobs, Thank You Very Much!

I do not, do not, understand the unfortunate predisposition of the American public to refer slangily to the mammary glands of the female as “boobs.”

boobad

So I looked up the word “boob” in a few online dictionaries just now. Here is a sampling of the definitions:

  • stupid or foolish person
  • dolt
  • boor
  • Philistine
  • simpleton.

Now, I ask you: Are these appropriate synonyms for the life-giving appendages that play such a rich role in the obstetric and gynecologic phases of our bodies?

How about we just call them fun bags?
Great! Thank you.
I prefer pillows of loveliness.
Respectfully,
I never have called breast that ... honestly.
I also don't believe in dancing nude in church.
I admit the word:`brasier' has a nice tone tho.
But, it's not right to walk around the bra store.
To stare at sheer nighties on mannequin's in a
window @ M- Street, Georgetown is a boo boo.
Well, goodness, it is not as though there are any other parts of the body that are referred to with derogatory slang terms.

Well, would you look at that? There is a unicorn in the garden. He's eating a tulip.

If you're gonna get excited about slang, better be careful when you count your boobies.
Using the word "breasts" seems even worse. I'd prefer tits to breasts...but boobs or boobies does nicely.
How about the term used by "Dr. Turk" on Scrubs? He refers to them as "lovelies".
How about y'all just ask the lady in question? Call mine boobs and I'll smack you from here to next week. Call them breasts and I'll be pleasantly surprised at your respect for my body...but to each her own...
As the owner of a pair of "pillows of loveliness" (thanks Cymraeg!), I vote for "breasts". "Boob" = the above definitions and "tits" seems to apply more to farm animals, not female humans.
So "bazongas" and "the swingin' sisters" are probably both off the table, then.
