arrrgh! --- i just missed a stickley rocker for $30

Rate: 5 Flag

 rocker

We were just at a city wide garage sale. Big yawn, very rarely do I buy anything. Then I saw an estate sale. The person liked truly good things.

Like a flash of lightening I saw a real Stickley rocker. Our house is an Arts and Crafts bungelow and we have furnished it with what appropriate furniture we could find.

It had the origional leather seat and it still had the paper tag from Stickley. The chair was priced at fifty. I wasn't going to bargain. Then the owner told me he had just sold it for $30. Look at the auction link below and see that this should have been $2000 - $3000.

Where did I go wrong to get this much bad karma?

I hate that when it happens. I will see something and it is already sold.
I feel your pain!! ugh. Hopefully the purchaser will give it a good home.
happy---this one really hurt.
lane---she was still there, that's how much i missed it by.
they're going to leave it in their garage then bring it
out on occasion as lawn furniture. I almost did an intervention.
I would probably obsess about it for a while...until next aquisition.
snark---that's my problem, i keep buying
beck---it is a terrible feeling. a museum piece rocker as lawn furniture. I once saw a violin being used as aa planter.
Oh--ouch! This just makes me queasy, WS! A Stickley as lawn furniture! No-no-no!! Could you maybe find out where they live and sneak over late some night and, uh, liberate it? It needs to be in your Arts & Crafts home, not with them. They're worse than Phillistines! They're Neanderthals!

I think an intervention would have been very appropriate.

Just a wish that you find another better deal next time around.
yarn--- i think a neanderthal would have more sense.
more so because i told them it's value.

lunch---yes there will be more but this one hurt
