40 years as an ovo-lacto vegetarian---don't hate me for this

Rate: 7 Flag

I've read through all of the current responses to this open call. Frankly only three of the responders is anywhere close to understanding the philosophy.

My goal here isn't to preach but to discuss with others the various viewpoints that lead to successfully becoming what i feel is a evolved and enlightened human.

Those of you that wish to discuss this further please PM. Anyone with negative opinions, procarnivores, or "my health" will be reported as harassers, zero tolerance, no discussion.

My personal philosophy is that people can eat whatever they are inclined to eat and I will eat what I am inclined to eat (but the first fool that tries to get me to eat fish/shellfish is their life into their own h ands)
exactally! i'll discuss with other that what to investigate this path but not enter into i should/you should discussions live and let live is all we should think about.

the number of time i've been attacked over my beliefs is why i say i won't tolerate it.
I understand entirely...I was attacked for hunting my own dinner...felt I needed to...had the experience come my way...aoxo moaxo
wsc... I am, perhaps, a mite "odd" these days, I don't care what people eat so long as it is healthy and nourishing... I care IF they eat.

If someone wanders into my house that has dietary restrictions due to either their personal ethics, religious beliefs or a medical condition... I will feed them what falls within their personal guidelines and not ask daft questions.
that's it---your life is your life and mine is mine.

if someone wants to know why i feel the way i do ask
if you want to convince me otherwise, i won't listen
As long as you're happy, healthy and wise that's all that matters. I only like chocolate milk, so if I tried your dietary preferences I would have to call it ovo-choc0-lacto vegetarian. :)
i love the way you think.

i know you understand that not everyone has to believe the same things you do. i don't question the ways of others unlews they harm others.
I can see many reasons for not wanting to eat a sentient being. If I spent more time around these animals, I would never eat meat. However, I have very limited tastes in plant matter.
You're right - There should be no should's in what we eat - it's one of the most primordial, fundamental choices we make.

Except Limburger cheese. NO one should EVER eat Limburger cheese....
snarky---for me it is a far deeper issue than i like animals so i won't eat them. it's a good enough reason but far from the only one. however without question loving creation and life is an intergral part.
kit---everyone that has commented knows my interest in history and anthropology. Many of my beliefs come from there and are reactions to the past in an effort to move myself forward. some you are very right that we eat defines who we are and what we are.

as for your lyn burger? i don't know her but she must not be attractive to you so i'll jeep your review in mind. i trust your taste.

i know--- i'm going to my room
I want to know more about your choice. Should I pm?
I could only handle reading a couple of the conflicted carnivore posts before I felt rage-y and defensive as a 24 yr. vegetarian (eating fish does not a vegetarian make! I know, preaching to the choir here -- I'm glad I found this post of yours!), which was the last straw in contention and divisiveness for me so that's when I went up the mountain and hung out with the wildlife who smelled I wasn't a threat in any form for them so I had an incredibly intimate time with them. They seemed as glad to see me as I was to see them...
great post.
