Beware the Phony Progressives

Rate: 0 Flag

I have been victimized by online communities which purport to be progressive.  The most recent egregiousness was from Glenn Greenwald and the editors at Salon.com.

This is essentially an alert to Open Salon participants so that you can protect yourselves when you have the audacity to write something that a protected or powerful person doesn't like.  Dissent is not tolerated, and these communities are nothing like what progressives value.

The post is from my own blog, Home of the Brave, and that, along with my dormant blog, Universal Health, is where you can find all of my online work.  I've turned comments off here because I am leaving this as a protest piece.  My contact information is found on my own blogs, and commenting is enabled there, where everyone is welcome. My comment history on Salon.com may be found here.

Glenn Greenwald also practices the censorship of the contemptuous faux progressive.  From my letter to the Salon.com editor and Greenwald:

I wrote a letter to the editor on Glenn Greenwald's radio column discussing Jane Hamsher, Markos Moulitsas and the SEIU that was critical, yet respectful.  Immediately after publishing it and viewing it in the letters section, it disappeared when I refreshed the screen. I am requesting that it be reinstated, as it clearly meets all of the Salon.com criteria for publication. That act confirms my belief of Mr. Greenwald's contempt for me and others with similar circumstances and viewpoints. Regardless, I believe that he has crossed over the line into baseless censorship.

There was no response to my letter from either Greenwald or the Salon.com editors. Quelle surprise.

[UPDATE]  Right on cue, here's Beth Israel Deaconess monitoring and continuing its blacklisting.  The thugs, Marsha and her HR pal, threatened me outright that I would never work again, and one thing terrorists do is keep their threats. They like to watch and watch and watch (and they take ample time off for their lunches) - just like you. (On my own blog, I published the visit times and blog mining that BIDMC is doing.)

I've been jobless for close to three years after whistle-blowing reluctantly, being fired, threatened, and blacklisted.  I've been homeless for over a year.  I am destitute.

I discovered so-called online progressive blogs while job searching after I was fired.  I decided to test the waters and blog at Daily Kos about healthcare and professional nursing.  No one ever approached me there about any contact of any kind in real life.  No one ever offered a job, or even a solid job lead. And in my naivete I contacted three bloggers there and sent them my resume asking about a job network contact possibility.  They subsequently used that information to cyber stalk me, invade my privacy - and home, and expose me to more violence and attack by people in real life.  Then they closed ranks and disappeared.

They used me as entertainment porn. A crazy.  A charity case in which the charity was neither charity nor help. When I discovered some of what was being done, I expressed my fear and wrote for them to leave me alone and at least to identify themselves and what they had done.  I was banned by Markos Moulitsas for that - after he himself posted all sorts of identifying information about me in a post that garnered over 1000 comments and in which I was used to drive up his site traffic and his profit.

Subsequently I attempted to engage at Firedoglake, which turned out to be another phony progressive website.

I'm a slow learner.  It took me a second assault to finally learn that these people are all about profit, power and control.  They are no different than their right wing counterparts except that they deny that they censor, control and oppress, while the right wing celebrates this.

What they really do well is to fundraise for Democrats.  That's their purpose, and they manipulate people well to do it to the point that they can be influential and become Washington insiders.  Part of the "Village".

It's no coincidence that Salon's Glenn Greenwald has become a close working associate of Markos Moulitsas and Jane Hamsher.

So, beware, Open Salon participants.  Don't give away your writing and your work.  Maintain your own blogs or participate in group blogs where you retain full rights and ownership of your work.

Otherwise, the sucker born everyday will be you, too.

Here's my last comment and its response on Firedoglake in response to a post by Tula Connell, who writes about labor and workers rights issues.  There's no response there, you say?  You're absolutely correct:

Jane [Hamsher], I have written you and Christy [Hardin Smith] several times with no response, so be it.

This story is so disingenuous, that it’s unreal. I was fired from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in March 2006 for advocating for worker rights (Bigtime illegal work practices against an unskilled worker group which was over-representative of “diversity” in the workplace). I attended anti-union management meetings that were mandatory for all administrative staff. I wrote Paul Levy [CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston] on his blog and responded to him elsewhere to make sure that he knew what had happened since it appears that his information is highly filtered as it goes up the ranks and gets to him via his senior administrators.

I shopped the Boston Globe and the SEIU to see if either was interested in looking at the evidence I had of those issues and other patient issues (not reporting infant deaths and letting infant remains rot in the morgue for years while the hospital tried to find a funeral home to mass bury them under the radar.) Paul never responded to my comment, and he never posted it on his blog.

A month or so ago I met with Dana Simon and another SEIU rep and showed them all of the evidence. I allowed them to make copies of whatever they wanted.

In every case, after the parties were through with me, my calls weren’t returned.

I am homeless, destitute, and having been blacklisted, cannot find any work or any shelter. I have sold everything I own that is sale-able. Paul Levy knows that I was wrongfully discharged - I appealed to his office of business compliance attorney who verified that all of my claims were accurate but found “no evidence of retaliation.”

Dana Simon knows.  The SEIU knows.

I looked everywhere for work, but one cannot compete when one has been thoroughly defamed, blacklisted and threatened.

Tula Connell knows.

Where has the progressive “community” been?

Selise gave me homeless shelter numbers for her city - not where I live.  Thanks, Selise.

Another “helper” from FDL referred me to someone who stole my cats.  Thanks, William and Colleen.

RevDeb asked all kinds of questions and then informed me that she didn’t know of anyone who could help me. Thanks. But as I have already been defrauded by a priest, no surprise there, and probably to my advantage not to be “helped.”

So now I exist on the street.

Having advocated for healthcare workers and patients, I so appreciate your new found insight.

Had you ever bothered to read my blog, I have written over and over and over again about this and related issues around professional nursing, management and worker issues and healthcare reform.

But nurses are entirely disposable - as you have proved here.

What in the hell are you thinking?
