Shadows

Rate: 15 Flag

shadows one

Shadows seem very real to me.  A deep dark that we can sink into and where we can disappear.   As a kid I loved to play with my shadow.

          Shadows 2

A little spooky, our shadows can dance and seem alive in the environment.  A good movie has shadows playing a main part in the atmosphere.

        shadows 5

I have been interacting with shadows lately.  Blending my form with the shadows around me.  Transforming ordinary reality into the extraordinary.

shadows 6

The world is not completely what we see.  There is some wiggle room and that is where the creative mind goes to play.  I wish we could all be a little more flexible with what we think is real.

    shadows 9

Beyond Politics and Religion there is a space where art and music rule.  Beyond what our parents taught us about reality there are still questions.

   shadows 8

Take time to play.  What you do with what you are given in this world is important.  Your vision is unique.  Come out of the shadows.

Cool pictures, especially the last one. Is there a program that creates the wiggle effect or is it something in your camera?
I love these. Very creative. I want to hang the one of the reader in my bookstore.
Love the last one.. Our shadows follow us through life. Sometimes in photos and sometimes in our mind.
Well done Zanelle.
HUGGGGGGGGG
These are just wonderful! The one of the pavement suggests a grave stone to me for some reason. And the fence shadow is amazing.
Fascinating photos, Zanelle. These should be hanging in a gallery.
Shadows are fascinating, Zanelle. There are performances based on shadow theatre, and the implication of "coming out of the shadows" carries much with it. Very interesting, idea with pictures to complement.

Very fine exploration...I love the distortion in the rail fence.
I like how everyone sees different things in shadows. A book, a tombstone...Picnik is the place I play with photos. Come join the fun. It is free and yet there is a small membership if you want other options. It is just enough for me free. Thank you for all the kind comments.
GREAT compliment to your yesterdays' blog!

"flexible with what we think is real"

The difference, I believe, is between thinking (way over-rated) and feeling. What IS real anyway? Are our dreaming selves any less "real" than our waking selves?

I wouldn't be surprised to see this piece on the cover later.
Oh I love these pictures. Kim Peek said to his father, "Look Dad, we have the same shadows." -R-
I'm going to keep playing with shadows. I think they strike a common nerve. Kids know. We are the same in shadows. One dimension is definitely easier than two. Maybe living in the shadows isn't so bad.
These images are absolutely amazing! Great photography Fernsy!
Zanelle! I had a little electrical problem in my brain when I commented. I am going to Fernsy's latest next! Duh!

Wow! I love these. The first one is a work of art and the last one is fascinating. Thanks for a very creative post.

Made me think of Jung and the shadow self.
How cool. When I was little, I used to give my shadow directions to my mother's office so that she would pick me up early from my mean babysitter. It worked!
Love the images
Thought provoking words
