Old California Hippie Music

Rate: 12 Flag

Oh So many breezy afternoons spent stoned on the terrace listening to this song.  I just lets the sunshine into your soul.  Makes me want to fly and be free.

Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks entertained me for hours in the grey old Seattle days.  Little did I know I would be living in California country sometime and seeing where that music originated.

I love being lost in the ozone....again.  Old Hippies are cool.

I've been thinking about Dan Hicks recently - thanks for this song. I'm having dinner next week with an old friend and his cousin - who's played with Dan. Can't wait to hear tales!
I've always loved White Bird. It's still on one of my compilation folk mixes. Thanks for posting it.
Zanelle ~ great music from CA back in those earlier days! I liked the music of so many of the popular bands from CA that I can't begin to list them all here. During my early years at college Flo & Eddie, originally band members of The Turtles, played at my college in a concert and dance setting in the school's refectory. Great fun and nice to see in person some legends from the '60s!
Old hippies never die, they just get hip replacements.

They say all things... fashion and music at least, go in cycles. Can only hope something as cool as "old hippie music" comes back into style.
White Bird ... I'm playing it while I clean up my desk. Thanks.
Lovely slice of the past
We have a great 12 hour radio show on Sundays called “Psychedelic Psunday” http://player.q107.com/ all those great tunes from 1965 to 75

I remember the Hot Licks well and I'm proud to be an old hippy. It's like a badge of honor, if you can call doing nothing but smoking a lot of pot an honor:-)
@zanelle
Dan Hicks is the man. I just want to say his 70th birthday tribute is April 6, at Davies Symphony Hall in S.F. No doubt a good time will be had by all.
Just the name of that band alone Dan Hicks kills me..:)
HYUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG adn yes they are!!!
ozone travel is the way to go
Thank, Zanelle!
I like the "old hippies never die. . . " comment; hadn't heard it before.

Loved the first one, but I'm afraid Dan Hicks reminds me of the Dreadful Grate, who would be my least favorite band in the whole history of music if not for Rush.
