In back a line of headlights stretching to the coast.
In front a row of tail lights heading into the hills.
A typical evening commute in Southern California,
I'm thinking of you and how busy you are.

Too busy to call or write. Are you in the car next to me?
Are we traveling alongside each other but isolated
In our metal bubbles hurtling through space?
Can't you make the time to send one little note?

Hurling along the road. Just another commute.
On Valentine Day there were several bad accicents.
Maybe people just got mad and stepped on the gas.
Trying to escape the silence of hearts alone or hurt.

s
Space aliens among us, spirits guiding our journey,
Are you there my friend? Send me a sign.
In this modern world how do they find us?
The chances for love are hidden on these night rides.

Too many love songs on the radio
So many emotions inside our journeys.
Better to just keep in one lane and do the trip.
Enjoying the sunset behind and the hope of home.

Rounding the bend and heading down
Onto the country road and the quiet.
Gas prices make this ride very precious
No email waiting for me. Fading to black.

I can relate
~R~
1./ They drive a lot slower than in the UK and esp Europe.
2./ Everyone is on the wrong side of the road.
We - both FRed(tm) and I - prefer to fly. Less traffic.
Hot shots too!
